What's inside Workflow Wizard
- The Workflow Wizard allows Jira administrators to export existing workflows from one Jira Cloud instance and import them into another. This is particularly useful for migrating workflows from a Sandbox environment to a production instance, merging instances, or optimizing processes without manually recreating workflow changes.
Migrate Jira Cloud workflows between instances
Workflow Wizard allows you to export workflows from one Jira Cloud instance (such as a Sandbox environment) and import them directly into another (such as a Production environment). This eliminates the need for manual recreation, ensuring configuration consistency and reducing human error during deployment.Import workflows into Jira Cloud using Workflow Wizard
The Workflow Wizard app allows you to upload single or multiple workflows to your Jira Cloud instance using JSON files. The process involves four main steps: navigating to the import tool, uploading the file, validating the configuration, and executing the import.
Step-by-Step Import Process:
- Access the Tool: Go to the Apps section in the Jira Cloud sidebar, select Workflow Wizard, and navigate to the Workflow Import page.
- Upload JSON: Click the "Upload File" button to select a JSON file or drag and drop the file directly onto the page.
- Validate: Click Next to check compatibility with existing Jira workflows and statuses.
- Finalize: Once validation is successful and conflicts are resolved, click Import Workflows to create the workflows in Jira Cloud. You can then click "View workflows" to jump directly to the Workflow Page in Jira.
Backup and recover Jira workflows without instance clutter
To avoid the accumulation of inactive workflow versions within a Jira instance, Workflow Wizard enables exporting workflows to local storage. This allows for secure backups and simplified recovery without cluttering the Jira environment with redundant inactive versions.General strategy for resolving Workflow Wizard import errors
Most validation errors during the import process are caused by invalid data or modifications to the JSON file. If a 'Quick Fix' is not available, the most reliable solution is to re-export the workflow(s) from the source and import the newly generated JSON file without making any manual alterations.Create and manage blog posts in Docusaurus
Docusaurus blogging features are powered by the@docusaurus/plugin-content-blogplugin. To create blog posts, add Markdown files or folders to theblogdirectory. Post dates can be automatically extracted from filenames using the formatYYYY-MM-DD-title.md(e.g.,2019-05-30-welcome.md) or by placing anindex.mdinside a folder named with the date (e.g.,2019-05-30-welcome/index.md). Using folders for posts allows for easier co-location of images.Limit blog post preview size in list view
To limit the amount of content displayed for a blog post in the list view, insert the<!-- truncate -->HTML comment within the post content. Content appearing after this comment will be hidden in the list view. This text will appear in the list view. <!-- truncate --> This text will only appear on the full post page.Create and manage blog posts in Docusaurus

Post dates are automatically extracted from filenames using the formatYYYY-MM-DD-title.md(e.g.,2019-05-30-welcome.md) or from anindex.mdfile within a dated folder (e.g.,2019-05-30-welcome/index.md). Using a folder for each post is recommended for co-locating post-specific images.Export workflows from Jira Cloud using Workflow Wizard
The Workflow Wizard app allows you to export one or multiple Jira Cloud workflows into a single JSON file, which can then be imported into another Jira Cloud instance.
Steps to export:
- Navigate to Export: Go to the Apps section in the Jira Cloud sidebar, select Workflow Wizard, and then click the Workflow Export page in the sidebar.
- Select Workflows:
- Check the boxes in the Select column for individual workflows.
- Use the "Select all workflows" checkbox to select all workflows on the current page (note: this only applies to the current page of the paginated table).
- Filter Workflows:
- Use the Search Bar to find workflows by name.
- Use the "Show active workflows only" checkbox to filter for active workflows.
- Download: Click the Export button in the bottom-right corner to download the selected workflows as a single JSON file.
Constraint: A maximum of 20 workflows can be exported at once. Selecting more than 20 will trigger a warning.
Create and organize blog posts in Docusaurus
Docusaurus blogging features are powered by the@docusaurus/plugin-content-blogplugin. To create blog posts, add Markdown files or folders to theblogdirectory. To co-locate images with a specific post, use a blog post folder containing anindex.mdfile. Blog post dates are automatically extracted from filenames using the formatYYYY-MM-DD-title.md(e.g.,2019-05-30-welcome.md). Regular authors can be managed in theauthors.ymlfile.Implement external version control for Jira workflows
Workflow Wizard supports external change management by allowing users to export workflows locally. This enables teams to use external version control tools to maintain a history of changes, collaborate on updates, merge changes, and track accountability before deploying updates back to Jira.Access the Workflow Wizard in Jira Cloud
The Workflow Wizard is accessible only to Jira administrators. To access the app's export and import functions:
- Click the 'Apps' dropdown menu in the top navigation bar of the Jira homepage.
- Select 'Manage Apps'.
- Locate and click 'Workflow Wizard' in the left-hand sidebar to open the export and import pages.
