What's inside Wink

  1. Overview of Wink Travel Commerce Infrastructure

Wink provides travel commerce infrastructure allowing hotels to control supply and sell directly across multiple demand routes (social, partner, consumer, AI, and platform). It replaces high OTA commissions (15–25%) with a 1.5% platform fee plus Stripe card processing costs. The platform is API-first, and every feature is callable externally via REST API or a hosted MCP server.
  2. Wink product ecosystem overview

Wink offers six primary products to manage hotel commerce:

    • Booking Engine: Handles checkout and fulfillment across websites, QR codes, Web Components, and AI flows.
    • Extranet: Manages hotel supply, rates, availability, and channel control.
    • Studio: Creates bookable assets like links, QR codes, maps, and grids.
    • Social: Tools for content planning, generation, and publishing with booking-ready routes.
    • WinkLinks: Mobile-first storefronts for hotels and partners under a single public link.
    • Traveliko: A Wink-operated consumer discovery channel for participating hotels.

Note: Agentic AI is a platform capability, while Network and API are platform marks, not standalone products.

  3. Requirements for AI agent operators

AI agent operators (the entity operating the agent, not the agent itself) must contract with Wink. Before processing payment, the operator must present the traveller with the total price, property details, dates, and cancellation policy, and obtain affirmative confirmation. The operator is legally responsible for the agent's autonomous actions.
  4. Developer resources for building on Wink

Developers can integrate hotel commerce into products using the following tools:

    • REST API: The primary Platform API for inventory, booking, and settlement.
    • MCP Server: Connects AI agents to live documentation and OpenAPI specifications.
    • Agentic Payments: Framework for MCP setup, browser sign-in, wallet connection, and complete booking flows.
    • AI Skills: Pre-built agent skills available via wink-api-builder.
    • Other Tools: SDKs, Web Components, OAuth2 applications, webhooks, and geolocation services.
  5. Integrate Wink using the Model Context Protocol (MCP)

To integrate with Wink, connect to the hosted MCP server. Use the api_search and docs_search tools to discover endpoints rather than guessing API paths.
    # MCP Server Endpoint
    https://docs.mcp.wink.travel/mcp
  6. Implement Agentic Hotel Bookings using MPP

Wink implements the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) for agentic bookings. Agents can search, create bookings, and settle payments in one flow.

    Required MCP Server: https://api.wink.travel/mcp/booking-engine

Authentication & Permissions: Adding the server triggers a browser authentication flow. Required scopes include:

    • mcp.read: For MCP access.
    • marketing.read: To look up account customization.
    • payment.write: To execute payments.

    Booking Sequence:

    1. managing_entity_list
    2. customization_get_primary or customization_search
    3. destination_lookup_search_suggestions
    4. inventory_search_city or inventory_search_geo
    5. property_inventory_get
    6. agentic_booking_quote
    7. Wallet approval (e.g., via Stripe Link MCP: npx @stripe/link-cli --mcp)
    8. agentic_booking_pay (uses quoteId and spt inside the request object)

    Constraints:

    • Scope: One room, USD, adults only (adults >= 1, children = 0).
    • A quote does not charge or confirm a booking; it must be approved and paid.
    • amountUsdCents is represented in USD cents.
  7. Wink platform pricing and fee structure

Wink provides travel commerce infrastructure with the following cost structure:

    • Hotel Fees: 1.5% platform fee on confirmed bookings, plus Stripe card processing fees passed through at cost (no margin).
    • Partner Commission: Default commission of 10% on every confirmed booking, paid only on confirmed stays.
    • Setup & Maintenance: $0 setup fee and $0 monthly platform fee for the core platform.
    • Attribution: 6-month attribution window per click (not per session).
  8. Execute Agentic Bookings via REST API

As an alternative to MCP, agentic bookings can be performed via REST.

    • Endpoint: POST https://api.wink.travel/api/mpp/booking
    • Authentication: Use Wink-Authorization: Bearer <user-access-token>. Payment requires the payment.write scope.
    • Payment Flow:
      1. Send room fields in the JSON body.
      2. If the server returns HTTP 402, it provides a payment challenge.
      3. Retry the exact same request body with the header Authorization: Payment <credential>.
      4. Success returns a bookingConfirmationCode and Payment-Receipt.
    • Error Handling (HTTP 409):
      • https://api.wink.travel/problems/payment-in-progress: Settlement is unresolved. Retry the same body and credential.
      • https://api.wink.travel/problems/already-consumed: Challenge or proof was already used. Retry the same body and credential; do not create a new quote.
  9. Identify official Wink products

Wink offers six core products: Booking Engine, Extranet, Studio, Social, WinkLinks, and Traveliko. Note that 'Agentic AI' is classified as a platform capability, and 'Network' or 'API' are platform marks, not standalone products.
  10. Discover Wink APIs and Documentation via MCP

Wink provides a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for AI agents to discover live API contracts and documentation without guessing endpoints.

    • Hosted MCP Server: https://docs.mcp.wink.travel/mcp (SSE fallback: https://docs.mcp.wink.travel/sse)
    • Key Tools:
      • api_search: Find the live API operation to call.
      • docs_search: Find conceptual documentation.
    • Resource URIs:
      • wink://docs: General documentation.
      • wink://api: API root.
      • wink://api/{api}/operation/{key}: Specific API operation.
      • wink://api/{api}/operation/{key}/recipe: Task-oriented call flow.
    • AI Skill: wink-api-builder (available at https://github.com/wink-travel/wink-skills) guides agents through the flow of api_search → live contracts → auth → verified code.
  11. Manage payouts and chargebacks for hotels

Payouts are available within 24 hours of guest check-in. The hotel (and partners for commissions) bears all payout fees, bank charges, and currency conversion costs. Chargebacks are passed through to the hotel, including Stripe's dispute fees, except in cases of confirmed payment fraud. For cancelled or refunded bookings, the 1.5% Platform Fee is waived (or prorated), but any non-refundable Stripe processing fees are passed to the hotel.
