https://v4-admin.chevereto.com/Administrative guide for Chevereto v4, covering dashboard management for users, albums, files, and tags. Includes detailed configuration for system settings, upload storage, API access, login providers, routing, and website customization.
What's inside Chevereto
- Upload storage allows you to offload user-uploaded files to external servers. This reduces the load on the origin server, improves reliability, and simplifies scaling for uploaded assets. The system routes uploads to a configured external server which then exposes the files over HTTP for public access.
Overview of the Bulk Importer
The Bulk Importer (
/dashboard/bulk-importer) is used to mass import images, albums, and users by parsing a filesystem location. It is designed for large datasets that are impractical to import via API or the web UI.Key Behavior:
- The system imports content from the specified path into the database and filesystem/external storage.
- It is not a mirroring service; files are removed from the import path after successful import.
- Failed files are moved to
./importing/failed/.
Set the default image page tab
Determine which tab is displayed first when a user visits an image page. Available options are:
- Embeds: Shows embed codes first.
- About: Shows description and Exif data first.
- Info: Shows extensive details (Admin only) first.
Manage and browse tags in the Chevereto Dashboard
The Tags page (/dashboard/tags) allows administrators to browse all tags currently existing in the system. Tags are created automatically when users apply them to files and cannot be manually created from the dashboard listing page. Each tag in the list links to its public tag page at/tag/{name}, which displays all files associated with that specific label.Manage and moderate files via the Chevereto Dashboard
The Files dashboard (/dashboard/files) provides a full-screen grid listing of every file uploaded to the system across all users. Administrators can use this interface to browse content, sort files, and perform moderation tasks such as flagging content as safe or unsafe and approving pending uploads.Monitor instance activity via the Dashboard Homepage
The Dashboard Homepage (accessible at
/dashboard) provides a real-time overview of activity and resource usage. It features a Stats chart for tracking trends over time and a Totals section for cumulative instance data.Metrics tracked include:
- Files: Number of uploads and total files stored.
- Disk: Storage space consumed.
- Users: Registered user accounts.
- Albums: Albums created.
- Tags: Tags applied to content.
Configure Website Mode (Multi-user vs Single profile)
The Website mode setting determines the fundamental behavior of the installation:
- Multi-user: A community-style website where multiple users interact.
- Single profile: A single-user experience. When this mode is active, two additional settings become available:
- Single profile target user: An integer representing the numeric ID of the target user.
- Single profile routing: A string to map
/usernameto a custom path (e.g., use/to map directly to the homepage).
Manage albums via the Chevereto Dashboard
The Albums dashboard (/dashboard/albums) allows administrators to manage all albums across all users. It features a responsive grid listing showing album covers, names, and file counts. From the album view, administrators can edit album details, create sub-albums, share the album, or delete it.Manage the primary admin account
The account created during the initial installation of Chevereto serves as the primary admin account. This account can be modified, and additional administrators can be added to the system.Export user profile information as JSON
The 'Export a user' tool allows administrators to export a user's profile information in JSON format. This includes fields such as name, username, email, website, bio, timezone, and language.{ "name": "Biggie Smalls", "username": "admin", "email": "admin@chevereto.com", "facebook_username": null, "twitter_username": null, "website": "https://rodolfo.is", "bio": "", "timezone": "America/Santiago", "language": "en", "is_private": "0", "newsletter_subscribe": "1" }Configure image processing and Exif data
Manage how images are handled after upload:
- Image Exif data: Toggles the handling of Exif data.
- Image Exif data (user setting): Toggles whether individual users can decide how to handle Exif data.
- Thumb size: Sets the width and height for image thumbnails.
- Medium image fixed dimension: Determines if the medium image resize is based on
WidthorHeight. - Medium image fixed size: The target size for medium images based on the chosen dimension criteria.
