What's inside Statistical

  1. Overview of Statistical Discord Bot

Statistical is a Discord bot designed to track real-time statistics for YouTube channels. It monitors subscriber counts and provides notifications whenever a channel's subscriber count updates.
  2. Track a Discord channel using the /track command

To begin tracking a channel, use the /track command. You can identify the target channel in two ways: by typing the channel name and selecting it from the autocomplete options, or by providing the specific channel ID.
    /track
  3. Stop tracking a channel using the /untrack command

To stop tracking a channel, use the /untrack command. You can identify the target channel in two ways: by typing the channel's name and selecting it from the autocomplete options, or by providing the channel ID directly. Note that the autocomplete list only displays channels that are currently being tracked within your current channel context.
    /untrack [channel_name_or_id]
  4. Configure Discord permissions for the Statistical bot

When adding the Statistical bot to a Discord server, specific permissions are required to enable its core features:

    • Send Messages & Embed Links: Required to send update messages and embeds in the channel used to track YouTube channels whenever a subscriber update occurs.
    • Attach Files: Required to send images of growth graphs when a user clicks the 'View growth graphs' button or executes the /channel command.
    • Mention @everyone, @here, and All Roles: Required only if the ping_role option is specified when tracking a channel. If ping_role is not used, this permission can be disabled and enabled later if needed.
  5. Understand data collection for YouTube channel tracking

When tracking a YouTube channel, Statistical Labs collects the following information to provide updates and display statistics:

    1. Server & Channel Identifiers: The Discord server's ID and the specific YouTube channel ID provided by the user.
    2. YouTube Channel Metadata: The channel's ID, name, avatar, and current subscriber count.

This data is used to display information on the bot and website, and to monitor subscriber growth to trigger updates. Subscriber growth rates (subscribers/day and subscribers/second) are automatically calculated using a combination of YouTube's provided data and internal records.

  6. Troubleshoot missing channels in /untrack autocomplete

If a channel does not appear in the /untrack autocomplete list, it likely means the channel is not currently being tracked. Verify the tracking status by using the /tracking command to see the list of active tracked channels. If the channel is missing from the list and you believe it should be tracked, contact support via Discord.
  7. Verify if a channel is being tracked

If you are not receiving expected tracking messages, use the /tracking command to verify if the channel is currently on the active tracking list. If the channel is missing from the list, contact support via Discord.
