Includes guides on installation, ISO injection, post-install setup, driver installation, and troubleshooting for common issues such as Microsoft Store, Windows Update, and system stability.
What's inside ReviOS
- ReviOS is an open-source project designed to optimize Windows by improving performance, enhancing privacy, and removing bloatware. Key benefits include faster boot times, reduced latency, disabled telemetry, and specialized tweaks for gaming (such as reduced input lag and improved frame rates). The project aims to provide a stable and reliable experience while maintaining system compatibility.
Understand ReviOS component removal via WinSxS
ReviOS uses a custom method to remove system components (like
Microsoft-Windows-TelemetryClient) at the WinSxS level rather than simply renaming files or disabling services. It achieves this by installing a custom, empty CAB package that mimics a Windows Update. This tricks Windows into thinking a newer version of the component exists, causing Windows to automatically uninstall the original files from
C:\Windowsand the registry.Key Benefits:
- Persistence: Removed components are not reinstalled by subsequent Windows Updates.
- Recoverability: Original files are preserved in
C:\Windows\WinSxS. If a removal causes issues, uninstalling the custom package restores the components automatically.
Understand ReviOS data collection and privacy practices
ReviOS does not collect personal data, track user activities, or monitor system usage. The only data collected is anonymous download statistics via the file hosting provider ModsFire, which includes download counts and country codes. While ReviOS is designed to minimize and disable many built-in Windows telemetry features to protect privacy, it does not completely eliminate all Microsoft data collection to avoid breaking system compatibility.Manage system settings using the Revision Tool
The Revision Tool is a dedicated utility included with ReviOS that provides a user-friendly interface (similar to the Windows 11 Settings app) for system customization. It allows users to:
- Re-enable previously disabled features.
- Modify power settings.
- Fine-tune the installation.
- Access a built-in Microsoft Store (specifically useful for LTSC users who would otherwise need to reinstall it manually).
Understand ReviOS and the Playbook system
ReviOS is a Playbook—a configuration file containing system modifications for Windows. These modifications are applied using the open-source AME Wizard, which can be used on either a currently running Windows system or an offline Windows ISO. Additionally, ReviOS provides the 'Revision Tool' for managing system settings via a user interface similar to the Windows Settings app.Donate to ReviOS development
ReviOS is a free and open-source project. You can support the development of MeetRevision through cryptocurrency, PayPal, or Ko-fi. To help the project without a direct donation, you can disable your ad-blocker when downloading the ReviOS Playbook.Cryptocurrency Addresses

Remove system components via WinSxS using Revision Tool
ReviOS uses the Revision Tool to deploy custom packages that remove unwanted system components from the WinSxS store. These removals are permanent and cannot be reinstalled by Windows Update. Removed components include:
- Privacy: Telemetry Client, CEIP (SQM), Error Reporting, and Targeted Content Service (32-bit).
- AI: Recall (AIX), Click To Do (CoreAI), and Copilot.
- General: Windows Insider Program, First-logon animation, UNP, Windows To Go, Retail Demo Content, Photo Viewer (32-bit), and Intel Indeo Codecs.
- Security: Windows Defender and its related components.
Fix Xbox App issues by installing missing dependencies
To resolve Xbox app issues, manually download the installer from the official Microsoft page, install the app, and then use the internal settings to resolve missing dependencies.1. Download from http://aka.ms/xboxinstaller 2. Install and launch Xbox 3. Click 'Browse app' -> 'Sign in' -> 'Settings' 4. Navigate to 'App' and select 'Install missing dependencies'Locate drivers for Motherboards and Laptops
For desktop PCs, search for the motherboard model (e.g.,ASUS PRIME H610M-K D4 drivers) to find the manufacturer's official support page. For laptops, search for the laptop model name. If drivers are missing from a regional website, check the global version of the manufacturer's site. Drivers are typically found under a 'Support' or 'Drivers & Utility' section.Install ReviOS using AME Wizard
ReviOS is applied to Windows via a Playbook using the AME Wizard, an open-source tool that optimizes the system. While a fresh Windows installation is recommended, the AME Wizard allows the Playbook to be applied without requiring a full reinstall.
Installation Process:
- Download the AME Wizard.
- Download the ReviOS Playbook.
- Launch AME Wizard and load the ReviOS Playbook file.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the optimization.
