Overview of DirectContext3DDocumentUtils
The DirectContext3DDocumentUtils class provides static utility methods to manage DirectContext3D handle elements and handle instances within a Revit document. These handles allow externally generated 3D graphics to persist across sessions and be interactable by the user.
Key capabilities of using handle elements include:
- Persistence of external graphics source locations via a special geometry object.
- Generation of a selectable 3D bounding box that allows users to reposition the external graphics.
- A type-instance relationship where one DirectContext3D server provides a set of graphics (the type) that can be placed in multiple locations (the instances).
Currently, the only valid category for these handle elements is OST_Coordination_Model. Applications must update the handle type element using UpdateDirectContext3DHandleType() whenever source data changes or during the initial document load.
