What's inside GTEL MAPS

  1. Overview of GTEL MAPS Navigation Service

The GTEL MAPS Navigation Service provides a suite of APIs designed to build routing experiences. Key capabilities include finding routes between two locations and calculating travel time and distance for various route types.
  2. Overview of GTEL MAPS Isochrone API

The GTEL MAPS Isochrone API identifies and displays areas reachable from a starting point within a specified time or distance. It returns these areas as polygons or boundaries, representing specific milestones (e.g., 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes). This API is primarily used for accessibility analysis, service location optimization, and transportation or logistics planning.
  3. Overview of GTEL MAPS Isochrone Service

The GTEL MAPS Isochrone Service calculates and visualizes coverage areas (isochrones) based on travel time or distance from a specific starting point. It supports multiple transportation modes and is designed for integration into maps to assist with logistics planning, service accessibility analysis, and defining store service areas.
  4. Overview of GTEL MAPS Platform APIs

The GTEL MAPS Platform provides a suite of APIs for accessing GIS services. Detailed API specifications and usage instructions are available in the platform's API documentation.
  5. Overview of Snap To Roads API

The Snap To Roads API converts raw coordinate sequences (latitude and longitude) into a route that adheres to the actual road network. It automatically aligns input data points to the most appropriate road segments, eliminating geometric deviations. This is primarily used for vehicle tracking, trip history playback, route analysis, logistics, and fleet management.
  6. Overview of GTEL MAPS Matrix Service

The GTEL MAPS Matrix Service allows developers to calculate travel time and distance between multiple starting points (origins) and destination points in a single API call. This service is designed for optimization tasks such as finding the nearest station, efficient resource allocation, delivery route optimization, and real-time coordination in transport and logistics.
  7. Overview of GTEL MAPS API Services

GTEL MAPS provides a comprehensive suite of digital map APIs for individuals, businesses, and government agencies. The available services include:

    • Maps Service: Raster and vector maps for web and mobile.
    • Geocoding Service: Conversion between addresses and coordinates.
    • Navigation Service: Optimal route calculation for various transport modes.
    • Road Service: Snapping raw coordinates to road networks and identifying road segments via way_id.
    • Location Service: Administrative boundary and regional information.
    • Matrix Service: Distance and travel time calculations between multiple origins and destinations.
    • Isochrone Service: Reachable area polygons based on time or distance from a starting point.
    • Embed Service: Interactive map embedding via iframes.
    • Other Services: Supplementary APIs including real-time weather and geofencing.
  8. Overview of GTEL GL JS

GTEL GL JS is a powerful JavaScript library based on WebGL used to render interactive maps. It provides a comprehensive toolkit for building custom map experiences, ranging from simple location displays to complex data visualizations. It is compatible with all modern browsers that support WebGL.
  9. Overview of GTEL MAPS Matrix Route API

The Matrix Route API calculates distance and travel time between multiple locations for various transportation modes, including:

    • Driving (car)
    • Motorbike/Scooter
    • Bicycle
    • Walking
    • Bus
    • Truck
    • Taxi

This service is designed for logistics and spatial analysis tasks such as finding the nearest point, route optimization, resource allocation, and real-time logistics applications.

  10. Overview of GTEL MAPS Road Service

GTEL MAPS Road Service provides APIs designed to process and normalize real-world movement data. Its primary purpose is to convert raw coordinate sequences into accurate routes that adhere to the actual physical road network.
  11. Retrieve data tile metadata

Retrieve the TileJSON metadata for a specific data source. The response includes a licence field ("© GTEL Maps") and automatically appends the apikey parameter to the tile URLs. This endpoint provides information about vector layers and their fields.

  12. Resolve WGS84 coordinates to administrative units

Use this API to determine which administrative unit contains a specific WGS84 coordinate. Points located exactly on a boundary are considered part of that administrative unit.

Critical Requirement: This endpoint only works with data versions following the 2025 merger. You must provide a valid data_version via a query parameter or the X-Data-Version header; otherwise, the request will fall back to legacy data and return a 404 error.
