What's inside Wix

  1. Overview of Wix Site MCP servers

    Every Wix site includes a built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. This allows compatible AI agents to interact with a Wix site using natural language to perform tasks such as retrieving business details, discovering products/services, booking reservations, and initiating purchase processes.
  2. Connect to a Wix site MCP server

    Wix site MCP servers are accessible via a unique endpoint for every site. The endpoint follows the pattern <wix-site.com>/_api/mcp. No authentication is required for site MCPs. Requests must be made as POST calls following the MCP architecture.
    # Example for a site at https://andream.wixsite.com/andreas-kitchen
    curl -X POST "https://andream.wixsite.com/andreas-kitchen/_api/mcp" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "jsonrpc": "2.0",
        "method": "tools/call",
        "id": 1,
        "params": {
          "name": "SearchInSite",
          "arguments": { "searchTerm": "list available products" }
        }
      }'
  3. List available tools on a Wix site MCP server

    To retrieve the name, description, and input schema of all tools available on a specific Wix site MCP server, use the tools/list method. The MCP server will notify the client when tools are updated; clients should call tools/list upon receiving such notifications to stay current.
    curl -X POST "https://example.wixsite.com/example-store/_api/mcp" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "jsonrpc": "2.0",
        "id": 4,
        "method": "tools/list"
      }'
  4. Wix Site MCP Tool Reference

    The Wix site MCP server provides several tools for interacting with site data and documentation:

    • ReadFullDocsArticle: Fetches a complete article from the Wix developer documentation portal using an articleUrl.
    • ReadFullDocsMethodSchema: Fetches the full schema for a Wix API method using an articleUrl. This should be called before calling the actual method.
    • CallWixSiteAPI: Performs actions on a visitor's behalf (e.g., querying data, booking). Requires visitorToken, url (absolute API method URL), method (HTTP method), and body (JSON string).
    • GenerateVisitorToken: Creates a new visitor session and obtains a visitor access token. Use this before CallWixSiteAPI if no token is available.
    • SearchSiteApiDocs: Retrieves API documentation for installed business solutions. Use this for querying products and services instead of SearchInSite. Requires searchTerm.
    • GetBusinessDetails: Retrieves site details such as timezone, email, phone, and address.
    • SearchInSite: Searches the site for general information using a searchTerm.
