What's inside dab Nexus

  1. Introduction to dab AnalyticSuite (ACL) for SAP Data

dab AnalyticSuite (ACL) is a self-service data analytics platform designed for SAP-based data. It provides a large portfolio of pre-defined, ready-made analyses and reports that can be executed immediately to identify process weaknesses, fraud, data quality issues, and compliance gaps. The suite leverages artificial intelligence to improve evaluation accuracy and user convenience, offering transparent documentation for its multi-step analytics.
  2. Understand the purpose of User Exits in AnalyticSuite

User exits allow developers to intervene in the processing of a generated application at specific points, times, or events. This enables the introduction of customer-specific programs into the standard process, which is typically required when data is provided in advance.
  3. Configure columns and filters in the Task Overview

In the Task Overview, users can customize the visible columns using the column selector in the top-right corner. The 'Task Name' column cannot be deselected.

    Available Columns:

    • Task Name (Default)
    • Workspace (Default)
    • Task Type
    • Status (Default)
    • Next Run (Default)
    • Schedule (Default)
    • Runs (All) (Default)

    Available Filters:

    • Task Type: Analytic, Extract, Replication
    • Status: Running, Succeeded, Failed, Canceled
    • First Run within: All Time, Last hour, Today, This week, This month, This year, or Start Date / End Date
    • Next Run within: All Time, Last hour, Today, This week, This month, This year, or Start Date / End Date
    • Schedule: Once, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Real-Time
    • Schedule State: Active, Deactivated

    • Connection filters: SAP System, SQL Server, Fabric Mirrored Database, Fabric Lakehouse, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake Storage
    • Tags: Tag selection
  4. Understand dab Loom architecture and capabilities

dab Loom is a SaaS solution for SAP data analytics using Microsoft Fabric. Its workflow consists of:

    1. Data Extraction: Uses a certified function module installed in the SAP system.
    2. Data Storage: Stores extracted data in a Lakehouse within the Microsoft Azure EU West region.
    3. Data Transformation: Converts data into actionable reports or event logs stored in the Data Warehouse.
    4. Reporting: Provides pre-built Power BI reports for procurement, sales, and process mining (including P2P and O2C event logs).
  5. Locate Azure CLI parameters for dab Nexus updates in the Azure Portal

To run the update command, you need the following values from the Azure Portal:

    • Resource Group: Go to Managed Applications > [Your App] > Overview > Essentials and find the Managed resource group.
    • Name: Open the Managed resource group and look for the resource of type App Service.
    • Container Image: Open the Web App > Overview > Properties > Web app to find the image name (e.g., dabgmbh.azurecr.io/dab.nexus:VERSION).
    • Subscription: Open the Managed resource group and check Essentials for the Subscription name or Subscription ID.
  6. Create and manage Teams for authorization

Teams can be used to simplify authorization management. Navigate to Settings > Users / Teams to view the Team overview, search for teams, or create a new one using the + Team button. In the Team details, you can set the Team name, upload a profile picture, add Users to the team, and define which Workspaces or Analytic Groups the team is authorized to access and use.
  7. Edit or delete existing Analytic Groups

Analytic Groups can be edited by clicking the group name in the overview.

    Critical Caveats:

    • Editing: Changing an Analytic Group used by active (scheduled) Tasks may cause those runs to fail.
    • Deletion: Deleting an Analytic Group used in an active (scheduled) Task will permanently deactivate that Task. This action cannot be undone.
  8. Understand data storage and handling in dab Nexus

dab Nexus distinguishes between two types of data handling:

    1. Application-specific data: Data such as Analytic Tasks and SAP system configurations are stored in an SQL Server database (configured during installation). Log files are stored locally by dab Nexus.
    2. Analysis-relevant data: dab Nexus accesses this data temporarily for processing. No intermediate storage of analysis-relevant data occurs on the dab Nexus server; it is always stored and processed within the SQL Server.
  9. Utilize Human Resources (HR) analytics

Analyticsuite SQL 2.5.1 introduces a suite of HR analytics and the HR_BaseTable. Available analytics include:

    • HR_AdditionalPayment: New analytic for additional payments.
    • HR_BaseSalaryChanges: New analytic for tracking base salary changes.
    • HR_DuplicateAddress: New analytic to identify duplicate addresses.
    • HR_DuplicateBankAccount: New analytic to identify duplicate bank accounts.
    • HR_ReEmployment: New analytic for re-employment tracking.
