What's inside Integration Manager

  1. Overview of Actian Integration Manager capabilities

Integration Manager is a unified platform that combines Actian DataCloud's APIs and scalable workloads, Actian DataConnect's rapid integration capabilities, and Actian DataFlow's processing power. It supports SaaS, on-premise, and private cloud deployments. Key capabilities include:

    • Unified management of DataConnect and DataFlow jobs.
    • Hierarchical configuration to share artifacts, macros, and files across users.
    • Ability to expose any Job Configuration as an API.
    • Programmatic creation and on-the-fly execution of Jobs.
    • Real-time execution monitoring and event-driven triggers (File events, HTTP/S, Salesforce.com OBM).
    • Workload scaling and partitioning across engine pools and remote agents.
    • Full REST API parity: every action available in the UI can be performed programmatically to automate the DevOps lifecycle.
  2. Overview of SSL Certificates in Integration Manager

HTTPS encryption in Integration Manager is managed via a Keystore file containing SSL certificates used for encryption and identity authentication.

There are two types of certificates supported:

    • CA-Signed: Trusted by browsers and devices; requires a validation process with a Certificate Authority. Recommended for production.
    • Self-Signed: Not trusted by browsers by default; generates browser errors. Appropriate only for testing environments and non-public networks.

Note: HTTPS is always enabled and enforced for Integration Manager powered by DataCloud (SaaS and VPC).

  3. Overview of Salesforce.com Outbound Messaging API

The Salesforce.com Outbound Messaging API allows a Salesforce.com organization to securely and asynchronously send outbound messages to DataCloud. When a Salesforce workflow rule is triggered, an outbound message is sent to the specified endpoint, executing a job configuration in the integration. Users must have System Administrator privileges to perform the setup. Monitoring can be done in Salesforce via Setup → Administration Setup → Monitoring → Outbound Messages.
  4. Overview of Integration Agent

Integration Agent (powered by DataCloud Agent Technology) provides centralized cloud management for on-premise integration jobs and their associated collateral.
  5. Overview of DataFlow in Integration Manager

Integration Manager allows the configuration, scheduling, and execution of DataFlow applications for users with an active DataFlow license or subscription. DataFlow 8.0 is embedded within Integration Manager powered by DataCloud. Integration Manager utilizes the dr command line interface to execute these applications. Supported application types include RushScript (.js), JSON Graph (.dr), and Java Applications (.jar).
  6. Overview of JobConfig Listener Aliasing

JobConfig Listener aliasing allows you to create a custom, branded, and static URL for clients to execute an integration. An alias maps a unique name to a specific backend Configuration. While an alias can only map to one configuration, a single configuration can be associated with multiple aliases. This enables seamless backend upgrades or exchanges without disrupting the API consumers.
  7. Migrate Integration Manager configurations using JobConfig Export/Import API

The JobConfig Export/Import API enables the migration of packages and configurations from an on-prem installation of Integration Manager to the cloud. This is achieved by exporting metadata, packages, attached files, and macros into zip files and importing them into a new environment. Note that exported macros cannot contain encrypted values.
  8. Understand the Integration Manager macro hierarchy

Macros in the Integration Manager follow a specific hierarchy to determine which value is used during execution. Values are applied and overridden in a specific order, allowing global settings to be refined by more specific configurations. The hierarchy allows for a balance between global standardization (Account level) and individual privacy or specific job requirements (User and Job Config levels).
