What's inside InternLog

  1. Overview of InternLog Technologies

InternLog Technologies is a web application designed for Canadian architectural interns and registered students to track their licensing experience. The platform is structured around projects, mentors, and employers to align with professional architectural workflows.
  2. Understand the InternLog data hierarchy for logging hours

In InternLog, hours are logged using a strict three-tier hierarchy: Hours must be associated with a Project, and every Project must be associated with a Practice/Employer. To begin logging hours, you must first configure at least one Practice/Employer and one Project.
  3. Understand InternLog account and regional support

InternLog is designed for Canadian architectural interns and registered students across all Canadian provinces and territories to track internship experience hours for licensing. A 30-day free trial is available with no credit card required; payment methods are only needed if subscribing after the trial.
  4. Understand InternLog data collection and third-party processing

InternLog collects user-entered information including profile details, employers, projects, mentors, and log entries, as well as standard usage data like login events. Third-party services are used for specific functions: Clerk handles authentication and Stripe handles payment processing. Both third-party services maintain their own separate privacy policies.
  5. Access and navigate the Logbook

The Logbook provides a searchable, filterable view of all log entries, listed in reverse chronological order (50 per page). It is accessible via the left-hand navigation menu. Each entry displays the date, project name, employer, category, hours, assigned mentor, description, and any flags for incomplete entries. The total entry count and total hours for the current view are displayed at the top.
  6. Access and navigate the Calendar view

The Calendar view provides a monthly overview of logged hours, allowing users to spot gaps and manage entries. It is accessible via the left-hand navigation menu. Users can navigate between months using the navigation arrows or the month selector. The top of the page displays the total hours for the month and the count of days with logged hours.
  7. Add a new mentor in InternLog

To add a mentor, navigate to Mentor in the main menu and select Add Mentor. The following fields are available:

    • First name (Required)
    • Last name (Required)
    • Start date (Required): The date the mentorship began.
    • End date (Optional): Leave blank if the mentor is current.
    • Current mentor (Optional): Checkbox to mark as the active mentor.
    • Email (Optional)
    • Practice (Optional): The organization where the mentor works.
    • Personal phone (Optional)
    • Business phone (Optional)
  8. Manage projects and employers for time logging

If a project is missing from the dropdown menu, you must first add it via the Projects section. To add a project, you must have at least one employer configured in the Employers section first.
  9. Export and retain logbook data

Users can export their log entries at any time, including after a subscription ends, using the CSV export feature in the Logbook. Data is retained and remains exportable after cancellation unless the user explicitly requests account deletion.
  10. Edit or delete log entries

Manage existing log entries directly from the Logbook view:

    • Editing: Click 'Edit in Quick Log' on an entry to open it in the Quick Log interface with all fields pre-filled.
    • Deleting: Click 'Delete' and type DELETE to confirm removal.

Warning: Deleted entries cannot be recovered. It is recommended to export data before deleting if you are unsure.

  11. Manage Project Summaries (Role of Intern) for CERB reports

The Role of Intern section is a required part of the CERB PDF. After loading report details, you can manage summaries for each project:

    • Draft Summaries: InternLog automatically compiles a draft by aggregating your logged entry descriptions.
    • AI Suggest: Use the AI Suggest button to rewrite raw log notes into a professional paragraph. The AI cleans grammar and merges points but does not add new information. You can use the Revert button to return to the original draft.
    • Manual Editing: All summaries can be edited manually at any time.
    • Saving: Click Save to store summaries for later editing (they will appear in a list at the bottom of the page). Click Generate PDF to save and download the document immediately.
