https://help.alloyapp.ioUser guides for Alloy, covering board management, item details, and the Designer for defining data storage and representation. Includes documentation on attribute types (Date, Geometry, Link, JSON, Seasonal, Number, Time, Text, and Yes/No), geometry types for defining locations and shapes, and configuring interfaces and standard paths.
What's inside Alloy
- Comparison nodes in AQS define conditions that items must satisfy to be included in a query. They can be added to any query branch and their segments are populated with inputs or functions.
Overview of Alloy Workflows
Workflows in Alloy are programmed sequences of actions used to automate the management of assets and activities, perform business processes, generate reports, and notify users of data changes. Workflows can be linear or branched, and can utilize Filter actions to implement conditional logic.Overview of Asset Management Classic (CausewayOne)
Asset Management Classic (formerly Alloy) is an all-in-one interface within the CausewayOne platform for managing asset inventories, geographic visualization, defect reporting, and job management. While many features have been migrated to standalone apps (like Data Explorer and Designer), certain core functionalities such as Reports and Workflows are currently only available via the Asset Classic workspace.Overview of CausewayOne Asset Management reporting
CausewayOne Asset Management allows users to create, manage, and run reports to capture snapshots of data from a company project. Reports are categorized into two types:
- Standard Reports: Pre-defined, immutable reports based on system designs and interfaces. Some are available via optional modules (e.g., Highways Activity Report, Waste Round Report) and must be enabled via Causeway Support.
- Custom Reports: User-defined reports created via the Report Builder, allowing organizations to specify what data is collected and how it is presented across documents.
Overview of AQS Value nodes
Value nodes provide a fixed value to a condition in AQS. They act as inputs that fill the segments of comparison nodes and functions. They do not contain child nodes of their own.Overview of the Risk Assessment module
The Risk Assessment module allows organizations to adopt a risk-based approach to asset maintenance by calculating the severity of defects. It consists of three main components:
- Risk Interface: A set of four attributes (three link attributes for likelihood, consequences, and severity, and one for the calculated risk score).
- Risk Designs: Three specific designs used to define possible values for Risk Likelihood, Risk Consequences, and Risk Severity (which maps score ranges to severity levels, e.g., 'Cat 2 (High): 10.5 to 16.5').
- Risk Calculation Workflow: An automated workflow that triggers upon the creation or editing of a defect. It processes the Likelihood and Consequences attributes through a mesh to determine the Risk Score and subsequent Risk Severity.
Overview of Item Detail Canvas Sections
The item canvas is divided into several functional sections:
- General: View and edit basic item information.
- Activities: Manage Defects, Inspections, and Jobs.
- Audit: Track every change made to the item.
- Comments: Post and read messages for other users.
- Gallery: Manage file attachments.
- Manual workflows: Trigger specific workflows.
- Map: Visualize the item's location and geometry.
- Parents: Manage parent item links.
- Reports: View generated report items.
- Settings: View and override item properties.
Overview of Inspections in CausewayOne
Inspections are a type of activity used to plan and perform investigations of organization assets. They are used to record an asset's condition via data fields, yes/no questions, and photo attachments. Inspections are categorized as 'tasks' (alongside jobs) because they typically require travel to a location. Unlike jobs, which represent any work, inspections focus specifically on gathering condition data. Inspections can be viewed on a map, filtered by status, or queried via the Data Explorer.Overview of the Item Form Builder
The Item Form Builder is used to create and configure item forms by adding controls to a grid layout. Controls are the building blocks of the form and are categorized into three types:
- Attribute controls: Input fields used to set values for attributes on the item.
- Label controls: Read-only fields for displaying static or generated values.
- Layout controls: Cosmetic elements used to structure the form.
The form uses a grid layout that adapts to various screen sizes. New controls occupy a new row by default, and up to six minimum-width controls can fit on a single row. Controls can be resized and dragged to reorganize the layout.
Overview of CausewayOne Asset Management Apps
CausewayOne Asset Management (formerly Alloy) is a platform for managing, monitoring, and maintaining asset inventories. It consists of multiple specialized apps that provide different perspectives on data items:
- Maps: View asset locations geographically.
- Boards: Group assets by status.
- Hubs: Monitor assets via dashboards.
For fieldwork on smartphones and tablets, the Alloy Mobile app should be used instead of the web platform.
Overview of CausewayOne Asset Management selection pickers
Depending on the data type of a field, CausewayOne Asset Management provides specialized pickers to select values instead of manual typing:
- Colour picker: Used to select colour values.
- Calendar picker: Used to select date and time values.
- Icon picker: Used to select icon values.
- Item picker: Used to select items from a list.
- Map picker: Used to select items based on their geographic location.
Overview of the Geometry Editor
The Geometry Editor allows users to draw points, lines, and polygons directly on a map to represent an item's location and shape, or import coordinate data. It is also used to define bounding boxes for hub widgets and report map controls. The available geometry types are determined by the item's design.
