What's inside 1ClickImpact

  1. Understand the 1ClickImpact Order Status page and certificates

    The Order Status page displays the final, verified impact results for an order, including accurate totals and certificate links for each impact category (trees planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, and money donated).

    Certificates are generated automatically after an order is placed, typically within 5-10 seconds. If a customer visits the page before processing is complete, they will see a "Your impact certificate will be available soon" message. Once ready, certificates allow customers to view the certificate in a browser, share it on social media, or download a record of their contribution. Each certificate includes verification of the contribution, partner organization details, date, quantity, and a shareable link.

  2. Monitor store impact via the Impact Dashboard

    The Impact Dashboard provides a real-time overview of environmental contributions across five categories: Trees planted, Ocean waste removed, Carbon captured, Coral restored, and Money donated.

    Key features include:

    • Daily Impact Chart: A 30-day bar chart showing total contributions to identify trends or the effect of sales events.
    • Records Table: A detailed list of every impact event including order number, date, quantities, and customer info. Records can be searched by order number/customer name or filtered by category and date range.
    • Record Details: Clicking a record reveals tracking info, certificate links, partner locations (Google Maps), the impact lifecycle (Initiated -> Received -> Transferred -> Completed), and video recordings/planting session links.
  3. Understand 1ClickImpact usage-based billing

    1ClickImpact uses Shopify's built-in usage-based billing. Charges are handled entirely through Shopify and appear on your Shopify invoice. You are only charged for actual impact created, and your monthly budget acts as a hard cap to ensure you are never charged more than your specified limit in a single billing cycle.
  4. Embed the 1ClickImpact Climate Badge

    The Climate Badge is an embeddable HTML widget that automatically updates to show your store's latest totals for trees planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, and coral restored. It can be placed on any website (not just Shopify) in locations like the footer, product pages, or about page.

    Requirements:

    • A 1ClickImpact subscription at 1clickimpact.com (a free plan is available).
    • This subscription is separate from the Shopify app subscription.
    Visit 1clickimpact.com/integrations/badge to generate your badge embed code.
  5. Configure the Thank You Page Widget

    The Thank You page widget is a Shopify checkout UI extension that confirms the environmental impact after an order is placed. It is enabled automatically when the Checkout extension is enabled.

    Installation/Verification:

    1. Go to Shopify admin -> Settings -> Checkout.
    2. Confirm the 1ClickImpact extension is enabled under the Thank You page section.

    Displayed Content:

    • Total impact summary: Breakdown of all impact categories and add-ons.
    • Impact certificates: Clickable links to verify contributions.
    • Customer selections: Confirmation of categories chosen in 'Customer choice mode'.
    • Monthly mode: Displays a general monthly contribution message instead of per-order details.
  6. Manage billing cycles and usage tracking

    The billing cycle follows your Shopify subscription cycle (typically 30 days). At the start of each cycle, the usage counter resets to zero and the full budget becomes available.

    How to view usage:

    • 1ClickImpact Home page: View current cycle usage and remaining budget.
    • Shopify Admin: Go to Settings > Billing to see app charges.
    • Shopify Invoice: View detailed line items on the monthly invoice.
  7. Install and configure the Impact Counter stats widget

    The Impact Counter is a live stats widget that displays cumulative totals for trees planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, and money donated. It uses animated counters that trigger when the widget scrolls into view. Data is pulled from Shopify shop metafields and updated after each order is processed.

    Layout Options:

    • Hero Image: Stats overlaid on a full-width background image (preset or custom URL).
    • Card Grid: Stats in individual cards arranged in a responsive grid.
    • Compact Line: Stats in a single horizontal row.

    Installation Steps:

    1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store -> Themes -> Customize.
    2. Navigate to the target page (e.g., homepage).
    3. Click Add section and search for 1ClickImpact Impact Counter.
    4. Select the preferred layout and click Save.
    // Theme Editor Customization Options:
    {
      "layout": "Card Grid | Hero Image | Compact Line",
      "heading": "Custom heading text",
      "subtitle": "Optional subtitle text",
      "primary_color": "Icon and counter number colors",
      "background_color": "Section background",
      "text_color": "Heading and label text color",
      "hero_image_preset": "Preset background images (Hero Image layout only)"
    }
  8. Prevent 1ClickImpact budget overages

    To avoid hitting the hard budget cap enforced by Shopify, use the following strategies:

    • Calculate expected cost: Multiply average monthly order volume by the cost of active impact categories.
    • Add a buffer: Set the budget 20-30% above expected usage to handle peak months.
    • Monitor usage: Regularly check the app's Home page to track current cycle spending.
    • Iterate: Adjust the budget after the first month based on real usage data.
  9. Pause and resume environmental impact triggers

    You can temporarily stop all impact triggering (e.g., tree planting, ocean waste removal) without losing your configuration settings. This is useful for seasonal closures, budget reviews, or store maintenance.

    When paused:

    • No new impact is triggered for orders.
    • Customer add-on products are disabled.
    • Storefront widgets are automatically hidden.
    • Existing impact tracking and settings are preserved.
    • Shopify subscriptions and billing are NOT affected.

    To pause:

    1. Go to the Setup page in the 1ClickImpact app.
    2. In the Trigger Mode section, select Pause.
    3. Save changes.

    To resume:

    1. Go to the Setup page in the 1ClickImpact app.
    2. Select any trigger mode other than Pause (e.g., Per Order, Per Product, Customer Choice, or Fixed Monthly).
    3. Save changes.
  10. Add an impact summary snippet to Shopify shipping emails

    You can embed a Liquid snippet into Shopify notification templates (such as 'Shipping confirmation' or 'Shipping update') to show customers the environmental impact of their order. The snippet displays impact icons, summary text (e.g., "Your order planted 2 trees"), and direct links to impact certificates.

    Steps to install:

    1. In Shopify admin, go to Settings -> Notifications.
    2. Select Shipping confirmation or Shipping update.
    3. Click Edit code.
    4. Paste the Liquid snippet (found in the 1ClickImpact app under Profile & Settings -> Email Notifications -> Shipping Email Snippet) into the email body, typically above the footer or below the order summary.
    5. Click Save.

    Caveats:

    • Preview: The Shopify notification editor preview will not show impact data because it uses sample data. You must fulfill a real order processed by 1ClickImpact to verify the snippet.
    • Timing: If an order is fulfilled immediately after being placed, the impact data may not yet be written to the order and will not appear in the email.
  11. Access and use impact certificates

    Each impact generates a permanent, verifiable certificate containing the impact type/quantity, date, partner organization, a unique certificate ID, and a shareable link.

    Certificates can be accessed via:

    • The Thank You page after checkout
    • The Order Status page
    • The Impact Dashboard within the app
    • Impact confirmation and order shipping emails

    For food tree impacts, certificates include a link to join or view recorded live planting sessions.
