Overview of IoT Platform core functions and components
An IoT platform acts as middleware connecting hardware devices to user applications. Its core architecture consists of four layers:
- Device Layer: Sensors, cameras, and smart devices communicating via protocols like MQTT, HTTP, and CoAP.
- Network Layer: Communication links including 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, and NB-IoT.
- Platform Layer: Handles device management (registration, authentication), data management (storage, visualization), rule engines for automation, and security (access control, encryption).
- Application Layer: User interfaces (Web, App) and integration with enterprise systems such as ERP and MES.
Key functional capabilities include device registration, remote configuration, OTA updates, data filtering, and API/SDK provision for developers.
