https://docs.valeiot.comValeiot is a Cloud IoT platform for device integration, data monitoring, and analysis. It features a built-in MQTT Broker, HTTPS support, and ChirpStack middleware for data ingestion. The platform includes tools for managing devices, entities, and networks, as well as time-series data storage via Valeiot Data Points, visual dashboards with configurable widgets, and a payload parser for IoT device integration.
What's inside Valeiot
- The Script resource in Valeiot allows users to deploy custom logic code to interact with system resources, including Devices, Entities, Users, Actions, and Widgets. Scripts are used to enable automation, dynamic data processing, and event-driven workflows within the platform. Currently, the runtime supports JavaScript, with Python compatibility planned for the future.
Overview of the Valeiot IoT Platform
Valeiot is a Cloud IoT (Internet of Things) Platform designed for building customized dashboards connected to IoT devices. It is divided into two primary access areas:
- Console (Creation/Development Space): The administrative area where developers operate resources and configure the system. Access is available at
https://console.valeiot.com/. - Portal (Product/White-label Space): The end-user facing environment. It supports white-labeling with custom company colors, logos, and domains.
- Console (Creation/Development Space): The administrative area where developers operate resources and configure the system. Access is available at
Overview of the Valeiot Payload Parser
The Payload Parser is a JavaScript-based component used in IoT device integration to decode raw data payloads (binary, hexadecimal, JSON, etc.) and convert them into standardized Valeiot Data Points. This process ensures that data from various sensors can be interpreted, stored, and utilized consistently within the platform. Key capabilities include preprocessing arbitrary payloads, filtering out unwanted data fields, and normalizing custom JSON structures.Overview of the Data Source Selector
The Data Source Selector is a dynamic filtering tool used in dashboards to interactively select and switch between different Devices or Entities. It allows a single dashboard to scale across multiple sensors by automatically updating content based on the selected item. It supports hierarchical structures, such as Organization → Site → Device → Sensor.Understand the Valeiot Drive resource
The Drive resource in Valeiot is a cloud-based file storage system used to upload, manage, and share files. Every file stored in Drive is assigned a unique URL, which allows it to be integrated into other Valeiot components such as Dashboards, Widgets, Scripts, and Devices.Understand Valeiot Dashboard capabilities
Valeiot Dashboards provide a visual interface to monitor and analyze real-time data from Data Sources. They allow users to build custom views using widgets such as charts, gauges, tables, and maps to track metrics and detect anomalies. Key capabilities include multi-source integration (displaying data from multiple Devices, Entities, or Users) and dynamic switching between sources via a Dashboard Selector.Send device data to Valeiot using HTTPS or MQTT
Valeiot natively supports the HTTPS and MQTT protocols for direct data ingestion from devices. Devices can be configured to send data directly to the platform using these protocols without the need for additional middleware.Manage visual consistency using Valeiot Themes
The Theme feature allows you to define centralized color variables and apply them across dashboards, widgets, and UI elements. Instead of manually updating individual components, you manage named color references. When a variable is updated in the Theme module, all components referencing that variable update automatically. This is used for maintaining brand identity, implementing dark/light modes, or applying client-specific styles per portal.Simulate IoT device data using the Simulator tab
The Simulator tab allows developers to test and validate the reading and insertion of datapoints in a device's Data List. This allows for simulating device behavior, including variables, values, and time series in JSON format, to verify how an IoT application processes and responds to data before production deployment. The interface displays the HTTP status code (e.g.,200 OK) and the JSON response body for verification.Understand the role of a Network in Valeiot
A Network acts as a logical gateway that authorizes access to a group of linked Data Sources. It facilitates interaction and data routing by providing unique Network Tokens used to authorize requests. To successfully insert data, the system validates the Network Token and ensures the providedDNID(Data Source Network Identification) corresponds to a Data Source linked to that specific Network.Understand the difference between Valeiot Console and Portal
Valeiot provides two distinct access points depending on the user's purpose and level of authority:
- Console (console.valeiot.com): Used by Accounts (System Administrators and Developers). It provides full administrative control for developing, managing, and configuring the IoT solution.
- Portal (portal.yourcompany.com): Used by Users (Clients, Viewers, Managers, etc.). This is a white-labeled product access point where users interact with the solution via pre-defined roles and restricted permissions.
Note: Ensure the Portal is properly configured with branding and domain settings before configuring Users.
Automate platform interactions using Valeiot Actions
The Action resource in Valeiot allows users to automate interactions with platform resources. Actions function as event-driven triggers that execute predefined operations based on specific conditions or scheduled times. They support conditional 'if-and-or' logic and are designed to handle high-frequency events efficiently.
