What's inside Spookhost
- Suspensions resulting from Terms of Service violations, iFastNet flags, or other manual reasons require an appeal. If you suspect a false suspension by the automatic system or need to inquire about a specific suspension reason, you must create a support ticket via the Client Portal for a manual review.
Create Subdomains for existing domains
Subdomains are a type of addon domain created as a prefix to an existing custom domain or a Spookhost-issued free subdomain (such as.shpage.top).Host multiple websites using Addon Domains
Addon Domains allow you to host multiple independent websites on a single Spookhost hosting account. Each addon domain is assigned its own unique directory on the server, enabling it to serve a completely separate website from other domains on the account.Post-installation WordPress updates and security
After installing WordPress via Softaculous, perform the following steps to ensure security and stability:
- Update WordPress: Softaculous may not provide the absolute latest version. Use the built-in WordPress easy updater to install any pending updates.
- Install Loginizer: It is highly recommended to install the Loginizer plugin for Brute Force Protection, 2FA TOTP, social logins, and CAPTCHA.
- Premium Plugin Requirement: If you intend to use other included premium plugins, you must install Loginizer first, regardless of whether you plan to use Loginizer's features long-term.
Request a trusted SSL/TLS certificate from Spookhost
To enable HTTPS on a custom domain, you must request a trusted TLS certificate. While free subdomains have TLS automatically enabled, custom domains require a manual process to replace the default self-signed certificate.
Steps to request a certificate:
- Log in to the Client Portal Create TLS Section.
- Enter your domain (e.g.,
example.com). - (Optional) Select a preferred Certificate Authority (CA) and Key Algorithm under 'additional options'.
- Create a CNAME record in your DNS provider/control panel:
- Record Name/Source:
_acme-challenge - Destination: Paste the 'Record Content' provided in the Client Portal.
- Record Name/Source:
- Return to the Client Portal and click 'Validate TLS'.
- Wait approximately 2 minutes for the CA to validate the domain and issue the certificate.
- Save the provided private key and full certificate chain. Keep the private key secure and do not leak it.
Edit an existing page using Pagelayer

- Click 'Edit using Pagelayer' on the target page
- Click 'Update' to save changes
Add a Parked Domain using Spookhost Nameservers

ns1.spookhost.spacens2.spookhost.space
- Log in to the Control Panel and navigate to the "Domains" section.
- Input your domain in the Parked Domains section.
- Select the target domain to park it on.
- Configure your domain to use the following nameservers:
Enable PHP error display via Spookhost Control Panel
If your application is crashing with a 500 error, you can enable error reporting through the hosting dashboard to see the actual cause:
- Log in to the control panel.
- Navigate to "Alter PHP Config".
- Select the affected domain and enable 'display errors'.
Create a new page with Pagelayer
To create a page using the Pagelayer drag-and-drop editor, you must first create the page as a draft in WordPress so that Pagelayer can locate it. After saving the draft, use the 'Edit with Pagelayer' button to design the page with widgets. Once the design is complete, you must return to the WordPress page editor to officially publish the page.- Pages > Add Page
- Enter title -> Save Draft (Required before editing with Pagelayer)
- Click 'Edit with Pagelayer' -> Drag and drop widgets -> Click 'Update'
- Return to WordPress page editor -> Click 'Publish'
Force PHP error display in application code
If enabling errors in the control panel does not work, your application code may be overriding the server settings.
First, search for and comment out lines that disable errors:
ini_set('display_errors', 0); error_reporting(0);Alternatively, force errors to display by adding these lines to the top of your
index.phpfile:ini_set('display_errors', 1); error_reporting(E_ALL);Add an Addon Domain using IP and CNAME validation
If you cannot use Spookhost nameservers, you can add an addon domain using a CNAME validation record and an A record:
- Log in to the Control Panel and navigate to the "Domains" section.
- Input your domain in the Addon Domains section. This will trigger a nameserver validation error.
- Locate the CNAME record provided in the error notice and add it to your domain's DNS records at your DNS provider.
- Add an A record pointing to your Spookhost IP address (found in the Client Portal).
- Return to the Control Panel and add the domain again.
