https://docs.smart-grow.app/docs/Guides and walkthroughs for installing, configuring, and using the Smart Grow App. Documentation covers the admin dashboard for managing platforms, roles, users, and API tokens, as well as user dashboard features for managing app environments, secure variables, certificates, and releases. Includes security configuration for user profiles, such as two-factor authentication and passkeys.
What's inside Smart Grow App
- Passkeys provide a secure, passwordless alternative for user authentication. They enable users to sign into the web client using biometric authentication (fingerprint, face scan) or a device screen lock, reducing reliance on traditional passwords.
Overview of Smart Grow App setup and management
The Smart Grow App ecosystem consists of three primary components that must be configured in sequence:
- Server Installation: Deploying the backend services and meeting system requirements.
- Web Client Configuration: Setting up the client interface to connect to the server and validating access.
- Administration: Using the Admin Dashboard to create applications, define user roles, and manage environment variables and certificates.
Overview of Smart Grow App components
The Smart Grow App solution consists of three main components used for installation, management, and operation:
- Server: Manages the Backend and Database. It can be deployed as a Docker image or as a JavaScript file within Node.js environments.
- Web Client: The primary interface for solution configuration, operations, and user tasks.
- Mobile Plugin: A security layer that allows mobile applications to consume Smart Grow App resources securely.
Understand Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Smart Grow
Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an additional security layer for user accounts. When enabled, users are required to provide a One-Time Password (OTP) code during every sign-in attempt to gain access to the platform.Deploy the Smart Grow App web client to a Node.js runtime
The Smart Grow App web client is compatible with any Node.js runtime service. Recommended hosting providers include Cloudflare Pages, Render, Netlify, and Vercel.Generate and download app releases for testing and deployment
Users with appropriate permissions can generate or download app releases. This functionality is used to share internal app installers for testing or deployment purposes.Understand how app permissions and roles work
The platform manages access control through a role-based system. Permissions can be configured globally across the platform or independently for specific apps. To implement permission segregation, you must first have at least one platform, one app, and the target roles created before assigning permissions.Manage security roles in the Admin Dashboard
The App Roles module in the Admin Dashboard provides functionality to create and update security roles within the application to manage user permissions and access levels.Manage application access tokens for mobile apps and CI/CD
The API Tokens module in the admin dashboard allows you to create and manage access tokens. These tokens are required for mobile applications to access secure data and for automating release uploads from remote systems, such as CI/CD pipelines.Create a new secure variable in the Admin Dashboard
To create a new secure variable for a specific app environment, navigate through the Admin Dashboard using the following path: App Management > Manage App (for the target app) > Manage (for the target environment) > Secure Variables. Once in the Secure Variables section, select 'Create new variable', provide the required field values, and save. Note that versioning for secure variables is handled automatically by the system.Update an application environment in the Admin Dashboard
To modify the settings of an existing application environment, follow these steps within the admin dashboard:
- Navigate to the App Management section.
- Locate the target application and click Manage Application.
- Select the specific environment you wish to modify and click Update.
- Apply the required changes to the environment configuration.
- Click Update Environment to save the changes.
Disable two-factor authentication (2FA) in the web client
To disable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your account, navigate to your profile settings and provide a valid one-time password (OTP) from your authenticator app to confirm the deletion.Steps to disable 2FA:
- Go to the dashboard.
- Click the 'My Profile' button.
- Select the '2FA' panel.
- Click the 'Disable 2FA' button.
- Enter the OTP code from your authenticator app.
- Click 'Delete 2FA'.
