What's inside Sell.app

  1. Overview of SellApp Affiliate Program features

SellApp provides integrated affiliate program software to manage digital product promotions. Key features include:

    • Flexible Configuration: Support for auto-approving affiliates, minimum payout thresholds, percentage-based or fixed USD commissions, tracking duration, and attribution models (first-referrer or last-referrer).
    • Granular Control: Ability to set product-level commission overrides.
    • Affiliate Experience: A dedicated dashboard for affiliates to track earnings, referrals, and payouts.
    • Automation: Automatic commission calculation upon order completion and notifications for new applications and pending payouts.
  2. Understand the Storefront Builder hierarchy

The storefront is organized into a specific hierarchy to manage design and content:

    • Pages: The top-level container. Each page has its own SEO settings (accessible by clicking the page tab).
    • Navigation Bar: Global across all pages. It does not use sections/blocks and has its own unique configuration in the left sidebar.
    • Body: Unique to each page. Comprised of Sections, which in turn contain Blocks.
    • Footer: Global across all pages. Unlike the navigation bar, the footer is comprised of sections and blocks.
    • Blocks: The smallest elements (e.g., text, buttons, images). These can be dragged and dropped within a section and configured via the left sidebar.
  3. SellApp API Overview and Base Configuration

The SellApp API allows developers to build custom checkouts, manage product catalogs, and integrate with external tools. The API operates directly on real store data; there is no separate sandbox environment. All requests are made to the base URL https://sell.app/api.
  4. Manage pages, sections, and blocks

    • Creating Pages: Click the + icon next to the page tabs in the editor browser.
    • Sections: Act as containers for blocks (e.g., a hero section or featured product list). While you can use a single large section, using multiple sections is recommended for simplicity.
    • Blocks: Elements within sections. They can be:
      • Static Content: Headings, rectangles, etc.
      • Dynamic Content: Data fetched directly from SellApp, such as product lists, groups, feedback, and published stories/highlights.
    • Configuration: Click any block to see its specific configuration options in the left sidebar.
  5. Prefill custom checkout information fields

If your product requires extra information from the customer, you can prefill these fields using the field's unique key from the SellApp dashboard. Append the key to the attribute data-sell-checkout-.
    <button
      data-sell-store="123"
      data-sell-product="456"
      data-sell-checkout-4124bc0a9335c27f086f24ba207a4912="JohnDoe123"
    >
      Buy now
    </button>
  6. Publish and optimize storefront design

Store designs are not automatically mobile-optimized. You must manually switch between desktop and mobile views using the respective icons located above the sidebar (next to the 'Preview' button) to ensure the design looks correct on both.

To make a design live, click the 'Publish' button at the top right. Changes remain as a draft until this action is taken.

  7. Install the SellApp embed script

To enable SellApp embed modals on your website, add the following script to your page. This script only needs to be loaded once per page, regardless of how many product buttons are present.
    <script src="https://cdn.sell.app/embed/script.js" type="module"></script>
  8. Manage the affiliate tracking and payout workflow

The affiliate lifecycle in SellApp follows these steps:

    1. Application: Users apply via the store's customer portal. Requests appear as 'pending' in the Affiliates dashboard.
    2. Approval: Once the store owner accepts the request, the affiliate receives a unique affiliate ID for promotion.
    3. Tracking: SellApp tracks referrals based on the configured duration and attribution settings. Referrals are visible in the Referrals dashboard.
    4. Eligibility: Affiliates become eligible for payout once they meet the minimum payout threshold defined in store settings.
    5. Payout Notification: Store owners receive notifications to pay eligible affiliates on the 1st and 15th of every month.
    6. Execution: SellApp does not process payments. Store owners must use the Payouts dashboard to export pending payout data and complete the payments manually (or in bulk).
  9. Manage payment methods in SellApp

Payment methods for a SellApp storefront are managed in the payment settings. Supported methods include card processors (Stripe, Square, Authorize.net, NMI), PayPal, Cash App, Crypto wallets, Merchant-of-Record providers (Paddle), Mercado Pago, Mollie, and Razorpay, as well as custom payment methods.
  10. Enable or disable a payment method for all products

There are two ways to apply payment method changes across all products in your storefront:

    Option 1: Via Payment Settings

    • To enable: When adding a payment method in the popup modal, toggle "Enable [Method] for all existing products?" before saving.
    • To disable: Remove the payment method by emptying the input in the modal and saving. The method will show as "Not configured," disabling it for all products.

Option 2: Via Product Dashboard (Bulk Update)

    1. Go to the product dashboard and select the desired products using the checkboxes (or click "Select all").
    2. Open the "Bulk update" dropdown and select "Payment methods".
    3. Toggle the payment methods you wish to accept.
    4. Click "Update All" to apply the selection to all selected products.
  11. Get started with the SellApp Storefront Builder

The Storefront Builder is a drag-and-drop interface for designing digital product stores without writing code. To access it, click the 'Store Builder' button in the SellApp dashboard sidebar. Store owners and admins may be required to click 'Authorize' on an Authorization Request screen to grant the builder access to the store.
  12. Create a subscription product in SellApp

To sell subscriptions, create a product with a recurring price. This requires a payment method that supports subscriptions, such as Stripe or PayPal. In the product dashboard, set the pricing type to 'Subscription' and specify the price and duration. Supported durations include days, weeks, months, or years, with a maximum limit of one year (365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months, or 1 year).
