What's inside SatVu

  1. Overview of the SatVu integration environment

The SatVu integration environment is a simulated space that mirrors the production platform's core functionality. It allows developers to test catalog and tasking APIs, end-to-end order workflows, and data processing pipelines without affecting real satellite scheduling or incurring production charges. All API endpoints, response formats, and delivery structures are identical to production.
  2. Overview of the Tasking API v2 capabilities

    v2
The Tasking API v2 serves as the interface for the satellite tasking flow. It supports the following primary operations: feasibility endpoint collection, tasking ordering, retrieving and listing order information, and retrieving ordered tasking data.
  3. Overview of the Satellite Tasking API v3

The Tasking API (Version v3) provides a programmatic interface for the satellite tasking workflow. It allows developers to perform feasibility endpoint collection, place tasking orders, list and retrieve order information, and download ordered tasking data.
  4. Overview of SatVu email notifications

The SatVu platform provides automated email notifications to inform users of key events. By default, all notifications are disabled. Currently, notifications are available for Tasking order status updates, which trigger when a status changes to Fulfilled, Failed, or Expired.
  5. Overview of SatVu platform data access methods

The SatVu platform provides self-service access to high-resolution thermal satellite imagery via three primary interfaces: a web application, a Python SDK, and a RESTful API. Users can retrieve data through two main workflows:

    1. Satellite Tasking: Requesting new image collections by specifying location, time frame, and other parameters. This includes price estimation, feasibility checks, and order monitoring.
    2. Catalog Access: Searching for and retrieving historical scenes already captured by SatVu satellites, allowing for data retrieval within seconds.
  6. Overview of the SatVu Data Catalog workflow

The SatVu data catalog allows users to access historical satellite data collected by SatVu or from previous user tasking orders. The end-to-end workflow for acquiring data from the catalog consists of four primary steps: discovering data (searching and previewing), estimating costs based on image pricing, ordering the data (which provides access to the entire scene), and downloading the data. This workflow is accessible via the SatVu web application, the Python SDK, and the RESTful API.
  7. Use the Thermal Brightness Temperature Prototype for quantitative analysis

The Thermal Brightness Temperature Prototype provides atmospherically corrected radiance, which offers a more accurate measure of radiance at the Earth's surface compared to standard radiance products. This makes it suitable for quantitative analysis, monitoring, and time-series applications, as it better reflects true radiance differences between objects in the same scene or across different scenes. Note: Radiance products are currently only valid for night-time data.
  8. Access SatVu data via API and Python SDK

SatVu provides two primary methods for scalable, automated access to its data: a RESTful API and a Python SDK. These interfaces allow developers to integrate SatVu data directly into their own custom tools and workflows.
  9. SatVu API Service Catalog

SatVu provides several specialized APIs for different satellite data and management tasks:

    • ID API: Manage client secrets, notification preferences, and webhooks.
    • Wallet API: Check credit balances for contracts.
    • Policy API: Retrieve contract information.
    • Catalog API: Search the catalog using the STAC specification.
    • Orders API: Create, retrieve, and list catalog data orders and access data.
    • Tasking API: Create feasibility requests, order satellite tasking, and retrieve tasking data.
    • Reseller API: Register and manage end users (available for resellers only).
  10. Navigate the SatVu STAC catalog structure

The SatVu Catalog uses a STAC-compliant hierarchy to organize imagery:

    • Acquisition Item: Represents a single satellite imaging event. This is the parent item for all derived products.
    • Product Item: Represents a specific imagery product (e.g., Primary or SBT) derived from an acquisition. These are grouped into product-specific Collections.
    • Relationship: A Product Item is linked to its parent Acquisition Item via the derived_from relationship in the links field of the STAC metadata.
