https://docs.pokertracker.com/Comprehensive guides and troubleshooting for PokerTracker 4, featuring tutorials on HUD configuration, database management, hand analysis tools, and site-specific import configurations for networks like PokerStars and Ignition. Includes developer documentation for Premium Add-Ons (v4.10+), PostgreSQL optimization, and tournament auto-detection.
What's inside PokerTracker 4
- NoteCaddy analyzes hand histories to combine opponent data into visual outputs, such as hole-card ranges and CaddySpark graphs, allowing users to absorb large amounts of opponent information quickly instead of filtering through individual text notes.
Understand All-in Equity and All-in Equity Adjusted Winnings
In PokerTracker 4, All-in Equity and All-in Equity Adjusted Winnings replace the term "All-in EV". While "All-in EV" is often used in forums, it is technically inaccurate because it uses the opponent's actual hand rather than a range, making it a measurement of luck (how the cards fell) rather than a forward-projecting expected value. All-in Equity calculates the result of an all-in situation as if no more cards were dealt and each player was returned their mathematical share of the pot based on their actual hole cards.Add a new customer to a premium add-on
To grant a customer access to an add-on, you need their registered email and the last six characters of their PokerTracker 4 registration code (found in the software under Help > About).
Steps to add a customer:
- Click ADD CUSTOMER on the add-on's customer list or go to Premium Addons > Customers > ADD CUSTOMER.
- Select the Product and enter the customer's Email.
- Enter the last six characters of the Registration Code.
- Optionally, select any Customer Groups the user should join.
- Click ADD CUSTOMER.
If the email and code do not match a valid license, the system will report "No license found for the provided email and registration code."
Resolve 'No license found' error when adding customers
The 'No license found' error occurs when the provided email address and registration code do not match a valid license. To resolve this:
- Verify the details against the information found in PokerTracker 4 Help > About.
- Ensure you enter only the last six characters of the registration code.
Download and import Ignition hand histories manually
Ignition allows users to download hand histories (including all players' hole cards) roughly 24 hours after play. These are available for about one week.
How to download:
- In the Ignition lobby, click Account > Hand History > Game Transactions.
- Select the game type and period.
- Download the sessions using the buttons on the right.
File Location: Files are saved to a
Hand Historyfolder within the skin's installation folder (e.g.,C:\[SKIN_NAME]\Hand Historyor%localappdata%\ [SKIN_NAME]\Hand History). How to import into PT4:
- Ensure the site software is set to English before downloading, as PT4 only imports English histories.
- In PT4, go to the Play Poker tab and click Get Hands From Disk.
- Select the specific files or the directory containing the downloads.
Use Columns to build statistics
Columns are the fundamental building blocks of statistics, derived directly from the database. Each column uses a SQL expression to generate its value. Users can use existing built-in columns to create new statistics or build custom columns to extract specific information not available by default.Understand the purpose of LeakTracker
LeakTracker is a built-in educational tool in PokerTracker 4 that compares a user's key statistics against a large sample of winning players. It is designed to help users identify suboptimal play and understand what optimal ranges look like for the software's most critical statistics.Understand Premium Add-On distribution concepts
The developer dashboard uses several objects to manage access and restrictions:
- Permissions: On/off toggles for specific features (e.g., allowing a user to add/remove stats in a report). The number of available permissions varies by type (HUD: 15, Reports: 6, Replayer Themes: 1).
- Packages: Bundles multiple add-ons into a single product. Packages define their own permissions and stake groups which override the settings of the individual member add-ons.
- Customers: Identified by the PokerTracker 4 license email and registration code.
- Customer Groups: Named collections of customers used to grant access to add-ons or packages in bulk.
Understand PokerTracker 4 Tournament Auto Detection
PokerTracker 4 uses an Auto Detection mechanism to automate tournament classification and ICM calculations for the Overlay Net Adjusted graph. It analyzes tournaments during import and after completion to automatically detect tournament type, buy-in, results, and prizes. While it generally supports common Sit'n'Go formats, not all tournament types are supported. Detection rules are updated automatically every time PokerTracker 4 is started.Integrate HHPoker with PokerTracker 4 using EliteHud
HHPoker is primarily a mobile platform, but it can be played on Windows via an Android Emulator. To import hand histories and use the Heads Up Display (HUD) in PokerTracker 4, you must use a third-party application called EliteHud. EliteHud generates text hand histories that PokerTracker 4 then imports into its PostgreSQL database for analysis.PokerTracker 4 macOS compatibility and limitations
PokerTracker 4 is available for macOS and Windows. While features are nearly identical, macOS security policies impose the following limitations:
- The HUD is unavailable at fast-fold tables that do not expose seated player names between hands (e.g., Party Poker Fast Forward), as macOS lacks the OS-level player name reading capabilities available on Windows.
- Certain third-party applications, such as the Ignition Hand Grabber, may not support macOS.
Note: PokerStars Zoom is supported on macOS because the site provides opponent names and seating within the hand history files.
Host PostgreSQL on a local network for PokerTracker 4
PokerTracker 4 allows the PostgreSQL server to be hosted on a different computer within the same local network (e.g., a dedicated server, shared between desktops, or on a host OS while the game is in a VM).
Caveats: This configuration is not officially supported. Certain features will not function if the database is not on the same computer as the PokerTracker 4 installation, specifically: Backup, Restore, database tuning, and database maintenance.
