What's inside Nomic
- Nomic is an AI workspace and project delivery agent designed for AEC teams. It integrates project files and standards to enable an AI assistant that provides cited answers, executes workflows (such as drawing review and code compliance), and generates structured outputs and PDF markups.
Understand Nomic's indexing and model architecture
Before the Assistant can reason over a file, Nomic indexes it by parsing the file into structured text and images and embedding them for semantic search. The platform utilizes frontier foundation models from Anthropic and Google, alongside Nomic's own domain-specific models for parsing and embedding engineering documents.Nomic Developer API functional areas
The Nomic HTTP API allows developers to integrate platform capabilities into their own systems. Key functional areas include:
- Agents: Programmatically launch and manage AI agents.
- Codes Search: Search international codes and standards by jurisdiction, code type, and natural-language queries.
- Files & Workflows: Manage file ingestion, parsing, and workflow discovery.
- Projects: Use projects as top-level containers for files, workflows, and agent sessions.
- Analytics & Audit: Access organization-wide cost, usage, activity data, and security audit trails.
- Administration: Manage API keys and user accounts within an organization.
Perform automated drawing and submittal reviews
Nomic provides specialized AI capabilities for AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) tasks:
- Drawing Reviews: Reviews drawing sets and returns verified findings in a table with PDF markups on cited sheets.
- Automated Submittal Review: Reviews contractor submittals against project specifications and drawings to provide an annotated submittal and review report.
- Code Compliance: Searches over 380 codes and standards across disciplines and jurisdictions to check drawings.
Run repeatable tasks using Nomic Workflows
Workflows are used for repeatable, high-stakes tasks such as reviews, extraction, and drafting packages where consistency and structured outputs are required. Nomic provides pre-built workflows that package the Nomic agent with specific instructions, requested files, and seeded artifacts.Monitor organization adoption and AI spend
Organization administrators can monitor adoption, track AI spend, and review activity across the organization using the following administrative sections: Admin → Analytics, Admin → Usage, and Admin → Audit Logs.Upload and use CAD drawings (DWG) in Nomic
Nomic supports AutoCAD DWG files. Once uploaded, these files can be opened in the CAD viewer, allowing users to use the Assistant to query specific drawing elements including layers, blocks, attributes, and labels.Perform drawing reviews and code compliance checks
Nomic provides tools for automated drawing reviews and code compliance:
- Drawing Reviews: Start a review in chat and select a depth level: Light, Thorough, or Comprehensive.
- Code Compliance: Scope a request, select inputs, and review the resulting findings.
- Exporting: Validated findings can be pushed to Autodesk Forma or Fieldwire, and marked-up drawings can be exported as PDFs for use in Bluebeam.
Create and optimize AI workflows in Nomic
Workflows allow teams to automate repeated manual reviews.
- Building: Workflows are created by defining instructions, adding context files, and specifying requested files.
- Iteration: Quality is improved by reviewing outputs and tightening instructions.
- Governance: Admins can control who is permitted to build, edit, publish, and run workflows to prevent sprawl.
Connect external project data sources to Nomic
Nomic allows connecting various external context sources to bring files, drawings, and specifications into the platform so the Assistant can search and reason over them. Supported integrations include:
- Autodesk Forma
- Bentley ProjectWise
- Egnyte
- Fieldwire
- Trimble ProjectSight
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Manual Uploads (the only ingest path for Individual plans)
Manage users and organization access in Nomic
Administrators can invite new members to Business or Enterprise organizations, assign specific roles, and grant access to particular projects. For individual users, a personal account can be created at app.nomic.ai using a company email. If an individual account needs to be closed, it can be deleted via the app settings.Create and edit workflows with Workflow Builder
The Workflow Builder is a two-panel editor used to create and edit workflows. It consists of a configuration form on the left and an optional builder agent chat on the right for assistance in designing the workflow.
