What's inside Luigi

  1. Overview of Luigi Core and Luigi Client

Luigi is divided into two primary components:

    1. Luigi Core: Used to create the main web application shell with a consistent, configurable user interface. It handles the overall application structure, navigation, and authorization.
    2. Luigi Client: Used to connect individual micro frontends to an existing Luigi Core application, allowing them to communicate with the shell and manage their own lifecycle.
  2. Configure a Luigi application

Luigi application configuration is managed by editing files located in the luigi-config folder of the project. The configuration is categorized into several functional areas:

    • Navigation: Basic (top/side nav, links) and Advanced (dynamic paths, micro frontend reuse).
    • Authorization: Login and security features, including event-based reactions to authorization changes.
    • General Settings: Micro frontend customization, header definitions, and responsiveness.
    • Lifecycle Hooks: Custom logic execution during Luigi lifecycle steps.
  3. Communicate with Luigi Core using the Luigi Client API

The Luigi Client provides a set of APIs to allow micro frontends to interact with the Core application shell:

    • Lifecycle: Used to manage listeners, navigation nodes, and event data.
    • Link Manager: Used to programmatically navigate to specific routes.
    • UX Manager: Used to control UI appearance, such as loading indicators and backdrops.
