What's inside EnergyTrak

  1. Overview of the EnergyTrak Event Log

The Event Log is a historical timeline of a site's system activity. Unlike Notifications, which are real-time alerts for immediate action, the Event Log records all events—including minor status changes, user commands, network updates, resolutions, faults, warnings, and firmware updates—often spanning several months.
  2. Overview of EnergyTrak core monitoring features

EnergyTrak is a monitoring application for Briggs & Stratton standby generators and battery storage systems. It provides real-time visibility into system health, utility grid status, and backup power availability. Key capabilities include:

    • Real-Time Status and Alerts: Instant notifications for power outages, generator status, battery levels, and fault conditions via mobile or web app.
    • Remote Monitoring: Access to generator exercise history, system-ready status, and utility power status.
    • Unified Monitoring: A single interface to monitor both a Briggs & Stratton generator and a battery system simultaneously for a complete view of home backup power.
    • Pro Monitoring: Automatic alerting of generator service providers regarding fault conditions to facilitate timely maintenance.
    • Data Security: Servers are hosted in the U.S.A. and the platform is owned and operated by Briggs & Stratton.
  3. Overview of the Generator Toolbox

The Generator Toolbox is a control panel in the EnergyTrak app used to remotely start or stop a generator and clear active faults. It is available to Pros and System Owners with an active EnergyTrak Premium subscription. Users with read-only access can view the toolbox but cannot issue commands (buttons will appear greyed out).
  4. Monitor standby generators using EnergyTrak Universal

EnergyTrak now supports "universal" generator monitoring for most standby generators via the EnergyTrak Universal (6943) device. This allows users to access detailed system data for the generator, grid, and network, and maintain a filterable historical event log for diagnostics and history tracking.
  5. Understand EnergyTrak Malfunction Banners

A Malfunction Banner appears in the EnergyTrak UI when a site is flagged with an active issue. These banners provide a description of the problem and links to support resources. There are two types of flags:

    1. System-Set: Automatically triggered based on device telemetry or OTA (Over-the-Air) update results. These are cleared automatically once the condition resolves.
    2. Support-Set: Manually applied by support staff when a site requires direct intervention.
  6. Identify EnergyTrak Generator monitoring hardware

EnergyTrak provides specialized hardware modules for generator monitoring, categorized by their connectivity method. Cellular-based devices share common LED indicators and troubleshooting steps, while Wi-Fi devices (such as the Amplify Gateway) utilize unique LED patterns and a separate application.
  7. Understand the Pro Business Hierarchy

Users and sites are organized by a business entity (e.g., an Authorized Dealer). This hierarchy determines access to shared features.

    • Pro Business: A single company entity. Pro Admins can view and manage all aspects of the business and its related entities. Any new user created by a Pro user is automatically assigned to that same Pro Business.
    • Independent Entity: Users not associated with a Pro Business are organized into an independent entity to ensure their site and information remain private.
  8. Understand EnergyTrak subscription and site hierarchy

EnergyTrak organizes access and billing using the following structure:

    • Device Level: Each subscription is assigned to a single monitoring device. A device can have only one subscription.
    • Site Level: A 'Site' represents a physical location (e.g., 'Main Office'). All devices are assigned to a specific Site.
    • User Level: Subscription benefits are shared at the Site level. Any user assigned to a Site can monitor all devices at that Site without needing individual subscriptions.
  9. Visualize fleet health and outages via Map View

In the EnergyTrak web app, the Map View provides a geographic overview of the fleet. Sites are represented by color-coded pins matching their current health status. Additionally, the map displays red grid outage polygons to indicate utility-level power outages.
  10. Understand EnergyTrak platform capabilities

EnergyTrak is an IoT platform and mobile application by Briggs & Stratton used to monitor and manage Energy Storage Systems (ESS/Batteries) and compatible standby Generators. Unlike the legacy InfoHub platform, which was limited to standby generators, EnergyTrak provides a unified interface for both batteries and generators.
  11. Manage battery faults and warnings in EnergyTrak 2.2.0

The notification feature in EnergyTrak 2.2.0 has been reorganized to provide a more user-friendly experience for managing battery faults and warnings.
