What's inside BOMcheck

  1. Overview of the Sphera Customer Network (SCN)

The Sphera Customer Network (SCN) is a premium platform for paid BOMcheck users providing communicative support. It is used for tiered ticketing support, tracking product enhancement requests, accessing SteerCo and SubCo communities, and receiving news and events across Sphera products and services.

Note that SCN is NOT used for full product documentation (available at the documentation site) or admin account and payment support (handled via the BOMcheck admin support mailbox).

  2. Overview of BOMcheck Platform API v2

    v2
The BOMcheck Platform API (v2) enables the upload, processing, and download of IPC 1752 standard files. It provides programmatic access to four primary BOMcheck features: submitting declarations (RCDs and FMDs), launching supplier requests for compliance data, downloading supplier compliance declarations, and retrieving integration data such as substance/exemption lists, supplier DUNS, and CAS numbers.
  3. Overview of BOMcheck Manufacturer Accounts

BOMcheck serves as a compliance IT system for manufacturers to store BOM structures, manage substance compliance campaigns across supply chains, and aggregate supplier declaration data to calculate compliance for assembled products. Manufacturer accounts can publish declarations for all DSLs and request part declarations for Primary DSLs. Optional add-ons include the ECHA SCIP Database Integration and the BOMcheck Platform API.
  4. Overview of BOMcheck SCIP Connect

SCIP Connect is a tool within BOMcheck designed to manage and submit information to the ECHA SCIP database. This is required for EU companies supplying products containing REACH Candidate List substances (SVHCs) above 0.1%. Reporting requirements apply to original article suppliers, sub-assembly/assembly suppliers, finished product suppliers, and resellers/distributors.
  5. Overview of BOMcheck Assembly Tool

The Assembly Tool allows manufacturers to upload BOMs containing up to 500,000 parts. BOMcheck calculates the worst-case compliance status for the BOM based on individual parts. When suppliers update part data (e.g., REACH Candidate List updates), BOMcheck automatically recalculates the compliance for all affected assemblies. If SCIP S2S Integration is configured, the tool automatically generates and submits new SCIP dossiers to the ECHA SCIP database.
  6. Overview of BOMcheck Professional capabilities

BOMcheck Professional is a manufacturer-level account designed for complete supply chain substance compliance management. It extends the standard manufacturer abilities by providing an expanded tool set and regulatory content. Key capabilities include the ability to publish declarations and request part declarations for all Declaration Specification Languages (DSLs). Manufacturer business accounts can also opt for add-on modules such as the ECHA SCIP Database Integration and the BOMcheck Platform API.
  7. Obsolete or recover a declaration in BOMcheck

Declarations in BOMcheck cannot be deleted, but they can be marked as obsolete. To obsolete a declaration, navigate to ‘Account overview’ > ‘View/Update declarations’, click ‘View’ for the specific declaration, and select ‘Set status of this parts list to obsolete’ at the bottom of the page. To recover an obsolete declaration, go to ‘View/Update RCDs’, select ‘View’ on the obsolete declaration, and use the 'Update declaration for this parts list' option at the bottom of the page to re-approve it.
  8. Automate SCIP database submissions via BOMcheck

BOMcheck integrates directly with the ECHA SCIP database, allowing for automated roll-ups and submissions of SCIP data across supply chains. Key capabilities include:

    • High-volume processing: Ability to upload 100,000 parts to create assemblies/sub-assemblies in approximately 4 minutes.
    • Rapid recalculation: Recalculating compliance and creating new SCIP dossiers for 100,000 parts in approximately 30 seconds when a part changes.
    • Group submissions: Parent companies can submit on behalf of all companies within a group.
    • Supplier reuse: Ability to reuse submissions provided by suppliers.
    • Auditability: Uses a blockchain to provide a transparent and auditable history of component supplier and product manufacturer data.
  9. Manage declaration confidentiality settings

Customers can only view declarations if they are included in the confidentiality settings. You can manage this at two levels:

    1. Specific Declaration: Go to ‘Account overview’ > ‘View/Update declarations’ > ‘View’ > ‘Update the declaration for this parts list’. In step 4 of the update process, select the customer(s) from the Manufacturers list (use Ctrl to select multiple) and approve the update in step 5 with your password.

    2. All Declarations: Go to ‘Retrieve data’ > ‘Check summary compliance data’ > ‘My parts status’ tab. Choose to make all declarations available to all manufacturers or select specific manufacturers. Confirm the update with your password.

  10. Manage substance compliance using BOMcheck regulatory screening

BOMcheck provides regulatory screening assessments to help companies create and share standardized materials declarations complying with the IEC EN 63000 standard. The system automates compliance checks for several global regulations, reducing the manual burden for the following:
  11. Update declarations for new substances

There are three ways to update declarations when new substances are added:

    1. Specific Declaration: Go to ‘Account overview’ > ‘View/Update declarations’ > ‘View’ (on the right) > ‘Update the declaration for this parts list’. Follow steps 1-5 and approve in step 5.
    2. All Declarations (Same Product Scope): Go to ‘Enter data’ > ‘Add declaration’ > ‘Update ALL RCDs’. Select the common Product scope, expand the regulatory lists, select the substances to update, and approve in step 3.
    3. All SVHC Compliance Statuses: Go to ‘Retrieve data’ > ‘Check REACH candidate list data’ > ‘My parts status’. Enter the SVHCs in the ‘Set my parts compliance status’ section, answer if all articles contain less than 0.1% of the substance, provide the Material Category if 'No', and select ‘Update ALL RCDs’.
  12. Manage supply chain collaboration in BOMcheck v9.0

BOMcheck Version 9.0 introduces a redesigned supply chain management system focused on manufacturer and supplier collaboration. Key improvements include:

    • Supplier Invitations: A streamlined process for onboarding new suppliers to the network.
    • Supplier Campaigns: Rebuilt to support more product types (Equipment, Batteries, and Packaging) with clearer tracking for supplemental and circularity/EPR data requests.
    • Supplier Network: Enhanced discovery and connection tools for finding suppliers on the platform.
    • Customer Requests (Supplier Side): Improved visibility for suppliers to track what has been requested, what is outstanding, and what is complete.
