Documentation for the Boid ecosystem, including BoidCore smart contracts on Telos and EOS, and BoidVerse games such as BoidVoid, a turn-based hex-field game, and Boid Squadron, an infinite shooter. It covers tokenomics for the BOID token, NFT management, staking, power management, and technical details on contract actions and tables.

What's inside Boid

  1. Overview of Pintastic IPFS Pinning Service

    Pintastic is a service that pins critical data and common good files to the IPFS network to ensure availability and backup. Currently pinned content includes Telos Mainnet blocks, history, and snapshots, Telos Governance/Decide documents, Skynet AI images, Muumba.art images, and various NFT collections across Telos, WAX, and EOS blockchains (including Alien Avatars on WAX). Users can search for pinned files, download them from the IPFS network, and verify status with providers via the Pintastic Portal.
  2. Overview of BoidVerse collaboration opportunities

    BoidVerse is a community-driven universe that allows users to contribute across several domains to expand its ecosystem. Available contribution paths include:

    • Lore & Storytelling: Creating stories to contribute to the BoidVerse lore.
    • Artistic Creation: Developing visual assets based on the lore.
    • Development: Building games or other ecosystem enhancements.
    • Marketing: Assisting in community growth and outreach.
    • Community Engagement: Participating in discussions via the official Community Site.
  3. Overview of the Boid Config Table

    The Config table is a singleton table within the boid scope used by the Boid smart contract to hold operational parameters. Because it is a singleton, only one instance exists. Modifications to this table require contract authority and are performed via privileged contract actions.
  4. Overview of Boid Token NFTs on WAX

    Boid Token NFTs were distributed to winners of a Boid Auction event held in March 2021 on the WAX network. There were 36 Boid Token NFTs minted, and holders have a chance for future Boid NFT airdrops.
  5. Overview of Boid key-based authentication

    Boid supports key-based authentication to allow users to authorize actions without a full wallet. A private key is stored on the frontend to sign actions, which are then sent to a Boid validator API. The API wraps these signed actions into an Antelope transaction for blockchain submission.

    Security Constraint: Key authentication cannot be used for sensitive operations such as withdrawals or transfers; these require a full Antelope wallet (e.g., Anchor).

  6. Overview of Boid VIP NFTs on EOS

    Boid VIP coins were minted and distributed to early, long-term supporters of Boid on the EOS network. Holding these NFTs grants the owner eligibility for random NFT airdrops.

    Available VIP tiers include:

    • Boid VIP Silver: Awarded to active users who joined in 2019 (54 minted).
    • Boid VIP Gold: Awarded to active users who joined in 2018 (67 minted).
    • Boid Frontier Program Badge (Testnet): Minted 43 times; provides a chance for future Boid NFT airdrops.
  7. Manage temporary authorization using the Auth table

    The Auth table is a singleton table used to store temporary authorization records during key authentication. When an auth action is called with a valid signature and action set, the system updates the Auth table with the verified boid_id. This creates a short-lived authorization state; once the signed actions are completed, the boid_id record reverts to the system default (typically the boid account).
  8. Play Boid Squadron

    Boid Squadron is an infinite shooter where you control a Boid dart spaceship. The goal is to move left and right to intercept enemies before they reach your mothership. If enemies hit the shield, the mothership loses HP.
  9. Manage player profile and battery settings

    The Profile Menu (accessed via the top bar) allows players to:

    • Adjust Boid Battery Ratio: Change the battery ratio in the 'Boid Battery' tab to affect attack values.
    • View Team Info: See details about team members in the 'Team' tab.
    • Review Progress: Access game logs and view acquired badges.
  10. Understand the `offers` table structure

    The offers table manages opportunities for participants (boid_id) to exchange assets or fulfill conditions for rewards. Only the contract authority can create offers. An offer is considered active until its quantity limits are reached or it expires based on the round number.
    @table("offers")
    export class Offer extends Table {
      constructor(
        public offer_id:u64,
        public requirements:OfferRequirements,
        public actions:OfferAction,
        public rewards:OfferRewards,
        public limits:OfferLimits,
        public total_claimed:u32
      ) {
        super();
      }

      @primary
      get primary():u64 {
        return u64(this.offer_id);
      }
    }
  11. Use PowerMods to increase Boid Power

    PowerMods are system-registered modifiers that can multiply or add power to an account over time. They are typically granted in exchange for specific activities or rewards. Accounts can have multiple PowerMods active simultaneously, and these mods may expire based on time or usage limits.
  12. Responsibilities of a Boid Network Validator

    Boid validators are critical for maintaining network integrity and efficiency. Their primary responsibilities include:

    • Proofs of Contribution: Verifying user contributions to ensure accurate acknowledgment and rewards.
    • Network Security: Fortifying the network by deploying robust infrastructure and staking BOID tokens.
    • API Endpoints: Maintaining API endpoints for Boid Services to facilitate transaction processing and provide historical data solutions.
