What's inside HUTECH eLearning

  1. Understand the difference between Groups and Teams

In a course, students can be organized into two different structures:

    • Groups (Nhóm): Used to categorize students based on shared characteristics (e.g., language, country, age) to tailor course content.
    • Teams (Đội): Used for small group assignments or discussions. Teams are scoped to a 'Topic'. If different assignments require different team compositions, a new Topic must be created for each to avoid overwriting previous assignment data.
  2. Use a Content Library for course components and question banks

The Content Library allows developers and instructors to create components that are independent of any specific course. These components can be imported into multiple different courses. It is primarily used for creating reusable content units and sets of multiple-choice questions for tests.
  3. Understand certificate issuance for self-paced and instructor-paced courses

Studio allows for the automatic generation of certificates when learners complete a course. The availability depends on the course pace:

    • Self-paced courses: Certificates are available immediately after creation.
    • Instructor-paced courses: By default, certificates are available 48 hours after the course end date. This date can be modified by contacting an administrator. Once available, learners can access certificates via their learner dashboard, profile page, and course progress page.

Constraint: If a course is configured to issue certificates, the course cannot be started until all required certificates are activated.

  4. Create and map Course Learning Outcomes (CLO)

To manage Course Learning Outcomes (CLO), navigate to the course on the Insights page and select the CLO tab.

    1. Create a CLO: Click the + CLO button to add a new learning outcome.
    2. Map CLO to Assessments: Click the + MAPPING button to associate a CLO with a specific test or assessment. To assign one CLO to multiple tests, click + MAPPING repeatedly to create additional mappings.

Note: Mapping does not need to reach the component level; it can be stopped at any level. It is recommended to stop at the 'Small Item' (Mục nhỏ) level as this aligns with the assessment settings on the LMS.

  5. Manage all open-ended responses via the Instructor tab

Instructors can view a comprehensive list of all open-ended responses within a course to manage grading:

    1. Access the course on the LMS.
    2. Navigate to the Instructor tab.
    3. Select the Câu trả lời mở (Open answers) tab.
    4. In this view, you can see all open responses in the course, their locations, statistics, and links to the grading page (note: grading links are currently only available for individual open responses).
  6. Send emails to students in a course

Instructors can send emails to learners enrolled in a course by following these steps:

    1. Verify the student's personal schedule to confirm the correct module and assigned instructor group.
    2. Access the LMS portal at lms.hutech.edu.vn.
    3. Enter the specific course you wish to send the email from.
    4. Select the "Instructor" section.
    5. Select the new experience option.
  7. Enable the discussion feature for course content in HUTECH LMS

To enable the discussion feature for specific content units within a course, instructors must use the Studio editing mode.

    Steps to enable:

    1. Navigate to lms.hutech.edu.vn.
    2. Select the desired course.
    3. Enter the Studio editing mode.
    4. Locate the specific content unit and activate the discussion toggle/function.

To verify the feature is active:

    1. Click on "Xem trực tiếp" (Live View).
    2. Select the content unit where the discussion feature was enabled.
    3. The discussion icon will now appear in the top right corner of the unit on the LMS.
  8. Embed videos into a course lecture

Follow these steps to add video content to a specific lecture section:

    1. Add Video Component: In the course interface, select the target section and add the 'Video Component' if it is not already present.
    2. Link the Video:
      • External Sources (e.g., YouTube): Paste the video link into the designated link field and provide the source information (e.g., YouTube – Channel Name – Author) in the description field.
      • Internal Sources (Insights): Upload the video to the Insights system, copy the generated link, and paste it into the course's video link field with a corresponding description.
    3. Save and Publish: Save the changes to publish the video to the course.

Note: Always verify the video link before saving to ensure the content displays correctly.

  9. Enroll students into a course on HUTECH LMS

Instructors can enroll students into a course by following these steps:

    1. Verify the student's personal timetable to ensure they are registered for the correct module and assigned instructor group.
    2. Access the LMS portal at lms.hutech.edu.vn.
    3. Enter the specific course that requires enrollment.
    4. Navigate to the "Instructor" section.
    5. Select the "Thành viên" (Members) tab.
    6. Enter the student's identification information (Student ID/MSSV or Email).
    7. Click the "Ghi danh" (Enroll) button.
  10. Calculate CLO achievement scores

The CLO score determines whether a learner has met the requirements of a specific learning outcome.

    1. Block Completion Percentage: For any given block (which can be a component, unit, small item, or large item depending on the instructor's setup), the completion percentage is calculated as: Percentage = (Earned Score * 100) / Maximum Possible Score

    2. CLO Score Formula: The final CLO score is a weighted average of the scores from all mapped blocks: CLO Score = (P1*W1 + P2*W2 + … + Pn*Wn) / (W1 + W2 + … + Wn)

    Where:

    • Pn: The learner's score on block n.
    • Wn: The weight assigned to block n.
    CLO Score = (P1*W1 + P2*W2 + … + Pn*Wn) / (W1 + W2 + … + Wn)
