What's inside CV2

  1. V2.1 General Circuit Improvements

General updates to the Circuits V2 system include:

    • Network heat limit increased to 1 KB/s.
    • Boolean logic nodes now allow ports to be added.
    • Float comparisons are now functional.
    • Control panels now include a built-in 'self' port; panels with only the self port use a condensed mesh.
    • Prompt player nodes now support body text.
    • Control panel and Circuit Board functions now have padding between ports.
  2. Use the CV2 Log screen and palette improvements

The CV2 palette now includes a Log screen page for monitoring errors. Additionally, the palette search has been improved for better accuracy, and chip descriptions are now visible when hovering over them in the palette. For debugging, a sound now plays for each CV2 error when holding the maker pen, and some output port values are displayed on hover.
  3. Understand CV2 chip execution types

CV2 utilizes two primary execution mechanisms for chips:

    1. Exec-driven execution: Chips with an exec input port execute only when an execution signal is received at that port.
    2. On-demand (Auto) execution: Chips without an exec input port execute automatically when another chip attempts to read data from their output ports.
  4. CV2 V2.10 General Updates and Renames

General improvements and naming changes in V2.10:

    • Renaming: Creation Object has been renamed to Rec Room Object.
    • UI/UX: All CV2 objects are now grouped under a new CV2 Gadgets filter in the palette. Recently used chips now appear higher in palette search results.
    • Logic: Multiple In and Out chips inside other chips have been replaced by single In and Out busses.
    • Events: Most object events now run for everyone; filter chips have been added after events to help determine the best player to run the logic for.
  5. UI improvements in CV2 v2.02

The v2.02 update includes the following quality-of-life improvements:

    • Event nodes now resize automatically to fit their text.
    • Synchronized variables are now visually distinguished from other variables by a unique icon.
    • Control panels no longer detach when quickly undoing and redoing the creation of an object.
  6. General CV2 v2.10 updates and renaming

General improvements and changes in v2.10 include:

    • Renaming: Creation Object has been renamed to Rec Room Object.
    • Palette: All CV2 objects are now located under a new CV2 Gadgets filter. Recently used chips now sort closer to the top of search results.
    • UI/UX: Type name billboarding is improved for VR and screens. Object board internals are now snapped to grids.
    • Logic: Multiple In and Out chips inside other chips have been replaced by single In and Out busses. Most object events now run for everyone, with filter chips added to select the best player to run for.
  7. Use Certified Inventions in Rec Room

Certified Inventions are a category of inventions specifically recommended by the Rec Room team. They are identified by special tags and can be located using specific filters within the store and the palette.
  8. Use Certified Inventions in Rec Room

Certified Inventions are specific creations recommended by the Rec Room team. They are identifiable by special tags and can be located using dedicated filters within the store and the palette.
  9. Implement movement and rotation using new Transform chips

New chips have been introduced to handle object transformation. Set Transform (beta) combines the functionality of Set Position and Set Rotation (beta). Note that older versions of Set Position and Respawn have been tidied up and their previous versions are deprecated.
  10. Handle CV2 v2.10 breaking changes and networking updates

Version 2.10 introduces several breaking changes to chip behavior and networking that may require room updates:

    Chip Behavior Changes:

    • Get All Players: The exec port has been removed.
    • Rand Int: This chip is now inclusive.
    • List variables: Now default to empty instead of null.
    • CV2 gizmos: Now obey the global gizmo play toggle.

    Networking & Synchronization:

    • Automatic Networking: Some chips and objects are now automatically networked, which increases heat cost. This includes Impulse and reset chips.
    • SFX V2, Piston V2, and Rotator V2: These can now be played by anyone with automatic networking. SFX V2 plays for everyone by default (can be disabled). Markers on Piston V2 and Rotator V2 fire events for everyone by default (can be disabled).
    • Limits: RPCs (some object chips) and synced events are limited to 5 per frame. A new RPC meter is available on the CV2 palette page.
    • Heat Costs: Networked operations and all chips with exec ports now expend additional heat (CPU or network heat).
  11. Migrate deprecated V2.1 nodes

The following content is deprecated and will be removed in the next update. Use the recommended replacements:
