What's inside Bee Maps

  1. Search and retrieve AI driving event videos

    Bee Maps provides endpoints to find and retrieve videos of AI-detected driving events.

    Search (POST /aievents/search):

    • The date range between startDate and endDate must be 31 days or less.
    • Event Types: HARSH_BRAKING, AGGRESSIVE_ACCELERATION, SWERVING, HIGH_SPEED, HIGH_G_FORCE, STOP_SIGN_VIOLATION.

    Retrieve (GET /aievents/{id}):

    • Retrieve a specific event by ID.
    • Optional Query Parameters: includeGnssppData (boolean) for ~1Hz GPS trace; includeImuData (boolean) for ~100Hz 6-axis IMU.

    Pricing: $6 per video.

    // POST /aievents/search request body
    {
      "startDate": "2026-01-01T00:00:00Z",
      "endDate": "2026-01-31T00:00:00Z",
      "types": ["HARSH_BRAKING", "SWERVING"],
      "limit": 50,
      "offset": 0
    }
  2. Request on-demand mapping (Burst)

    The Burst feature allows requesting fresh imagery at specific locations.

    • Create Request (POST /burst/create): Submit an array of location objects containing GeoJSON and credit allocation.
    • List Requests (GET /bursts): Check the status of requests. Possible statuses: active, expired, refunded, completed.

    Pricing: $1 per location (charged only on success).

    // POST /burst/create request body
    [
      {
        "geojson": {
          "type": "Point",
          "coordinates": [-122.413, 37.786],
          "radius": 50
        },
        "credits": 125
      }
    ]
  3. Query ML-detected road features

    The POST /map-data endpoint allows querying ML-detected road objects using either a Point with a radius or a Polygon.

    Supported Detection Classes:

    • speed-sign, stop-sign, fire-hydrant, traffic-light, parking-restriction, turn-restriction-sign, crosswalk.

    Coverage: US, EU, UK. Pricing: $3 per 1,000 detections.

        "type": "Point",

        "radius": 250
      }
    }
  4. Bee Maps API Rate Limits and Error Codes

    Rate Limits

    • Default: 100 requests/minute per API key.
    • Burst Creation: 10 requests/minute.

    Error Codes

    • 400: Bad Request (invalid geometry, missing fields, malformed JSON, or date range > 31 days).
    • 402: Payment Required (insufficient credits).
    • 403: Forbidden (missing or invalid API key).
    • 429: Too Many Requests (rate limit exceeded).
  5. Query recent street-level imagery via polygon

    Use the POST /latest/poly endpoint to retrieve the most recent dashcam frames within a specified GeoJSON polygon.

    Optional Query Parameters:

    • headings (boolean): Include orientation data per frame.
    • min_week (string): Earliest week to include in format YYYY-MM-DD.

    Pricing: $0.005 per image.

    // Request Body: GeoJSON Polygon
    {
      "type": "Polygon",
      "coordinates": [[
        [-122.420, 37.780],
        [-122.410, 37.780],
        [-122.410, 37.790],
        [-122.420, 37.790],
        [-122.420, 37.780]
      ]]
    }
  6. Manage API credits and device metadata

    Bee Maps provides utility endpoints for account and hardware information:

    • GET /balance: Check remaining API credits in USD.
    • GET /history: Query API usage and credit consumption history.
    • GET /devices: Retrieve camera calibration parameters for device types hdc, hdc-s, and bee. This endpoint does not require authentication.
