A geometry engine and scene processing module within the Xbim Toolkit that provides geometric and topological operations to transform models into 3D tessellated scenes or meshes. Built upon the Open Cascade 7.6.3 library for handling boolean operations required for generating 3D solids.

What's inside XbimGeometry

  1. Overview of XbimGeometry

    master

    XbimGeometry is a component of the Xbim Toolkit. It provides a Geometry Engine and Scene processing capabilities designed to perform geometric and topological operations. These operations enable users to visualize models in 3D, typically by converting them into a tessellated scene or mesh.

    The native Geometry Engine is built upon the open-source Open Cascade 7.6.3 library, which handles boolean operations required for generating 3D solids.

  2. Install XbimGeometry via NuGet

    master

    The XBIM toolkit uses NuGet for package management. You can find the published packages on NuGet.

    For developers working with specific branches:

    • The master and develop branches are available via custom MyGet feeds.
    • The nuget.config file included in the repository should automatically configure these feeds for your environment.
  3. Compile XbimGeometry from source

    master

    To compile the XbimGeometry solution, it is recommended to use Visual Studio 2019 or 2022 (the free Community Edition is sufficient). Note that older versions of Visual Studio are unlikely to work.

    Because the solution includes C++ projects, you must ensure the following components are installed via the Visual Studio Installer:

    • Visual C++ Core desktop features
    • MSVS v142 - VS 2019 C++ build tools
    • Windows 10+ SDK (minimum version 10.0.108362.0)
