What's inside NetherSX2-patch

  1. Choose between Classic (3668) and Patched (4248) variants

    The choice between the two variants depends on your device hardware and specific game requirements:

    • Classic (3668): Generally more performant. Recommended for Mali GPUs or less powerful devices. Some specific games (e.g., Nascar titles) may only function well on this version. It lacks some graphical and bug fixes found in 4248.
    • Patched (4248): Recommended for Adreno GPUs or more powerful devices. Includes additional graphical and bug fixes not present in 3668.

  2. Install NetherSX2

    Installation steps depend on whether you are updating an existing NetherSX2 installation or performing a fresh install from AetherSX2/older NetherSX2 versions.

    Updating NetherSX2 (version 1.9a or above)

    1. (Optional) Backup files: Use AetherSX2's built-in Transfer Data function and select Export to move bios files, memcards, save states, game settings, covers, and texture packs to an external folder.
    2. Install: Install the new APK normally to update and retain current settings.

    Installing from AetherSX2 or older NetherSX2 (< 1.9a)

    1. Backup files: Use AetherSX2's built-in Transfer Data function and select Export to move bios files, memcards, save states, game settings, covers, and texture packs to an external folder.
    2. Uninstall: Uninstall the existing AetherSX2 or older NetherSX2 app. Do NOT keep any files if prompted during uninstallation.
    3. Install APK: Use a File Manager to locate the NetherSX2 APK and tap it to install.
    4. Restore Data: Run the app and navigate to the Game List screen. Access the Transfer Data/Backup Data feature and select Import. Navigate to the folder containing your exported backup files to restore bios, memcards, save states, settings, covers, and texture packs.
    5. Configure: Re-configure your Global App Settings.

  3. Optimize NetherSX2 for performance

    To achieve the best performance, use the following settings:

    • Default: Use the Optimal/Safe settings for the best balance of compatibility and performance.
    • GPU Renderer: Use the Vulkan GPU renderer.
    • Hardware Download Mode: Set to Disable Readbacks.
    • Threaded Presentation: If using the 3668 (Classic) variant with the Vulkan renderer, ensure Threaded Presentation is enabled.
