What's inside Jci Hitachi HA

  1. Supported Jci-Hitachi device features

    master

The integration supports various features for Hitachi devices using the Hitachi cloud module. Note that some features are only supported via the LibJciHitachi backend and may not be available through the standard cloud API.

    Hitachi Air Conditioner

    • Power, Mode, Air speed, Vertical wind swingable, Vertical wind direction, Horizontal wind direction, Target temperature, Indoor temperature, Mold prevention, Energy saving, Fast operation.
    • Power consumption (requires HA core v2021.9.0+)
    • Monthly power consumption
    • Only supported by LibJciHitachi: Sleep timer, Freeze clean

    Hitachi Dehumidifier

    • Power, Mode, Air speed, Wind swingable, Target humidity, Indoor humidity, Water full warning, Error warning, Clean filter notify, Mold prevention, PM2.5 value, Odor level, Air cleaning filter setting, Power consumption (requires HA core v2021.9.0+), Monthly power consumption, Display brightness, Ion, Keypad Lock.
    • Only supported by LibJciHitachi: Sound control, Side vent

    Hitachi Heat Exchanger

    • Power, Breath mode, Air speed, Indoor temperature.
    • Only supported by LibJciHitachi: Mode, Error code, Air cleaning filter notification, Front filter notification, PM25 filter notification.
  2. Install Jci-Hitachi via HACS (Recommended)

    master

The recommended way to install this integration is using the Home Assistant Community Store (HACS).

    1. Ensure HACS is installed on your Home Assistant instance.
    2. Use the HACS repository button to add and install the JciHitachiHA repository directly within HACS.
  3. Configure Jci-Hitachi via Home Assistant UI

    master

If you are not using HACS, you can install and configure the integration manually through the UI:

    1. Create the config/custom_components directory in your Home Assistant configuration folder if it does not exist.
    2. Copy the jcihitachi_tw folder into the custom_components folder.
    3. In the Home Assistant web interface, navigate to Configuration > Integrations.
    4. Click ADD INTEGRATION at the bottom right and follow the on-screen setup instructions.
  4. Configure Jci-Hitachi via configuration.yaml

    master

You can configure the integration using your configuration.yaml file. This method requires manual file placement.

    1. Create the config/custom_components directory if it does not exist.
    2. Copy the jcihitachi_tw folder into the custom_components folder.
    3. Add your credentials and device names to config/configuration.yaml. Note: If you do not provide device names, they will be fetched from the API automatically, but providing them manually is recommended.
    4. Restart Home Assistant to apply changes.
  5. Handle target temperature anomalies in Auto/Fan modes

    master

When an Air Conditioner is in Auto mode or Fan mode, the target temperature might display an unexpected value.

Why this happens: Technically, the Hitachi cloud sets the target temperature to a 2-complement -1 (65535) in a 16-bit data type when it is not intended to be adjusted by the user. This integration includes a modification to prevent Home Assistant history plots from scaling to 65535.

What to do: If the value still appears as an extremely large number, you may need to add custom edge condition handling in your configuration (refer to PR #36 in the repository).

  6. Troubleshoot LibJciHitachi installation requirements

    master

If you encounter the error Requirements for jcihitachi_tw not found: ['LibJciHitachi==x.x.x'], it is likely due to an unsupported operating system or architecture.

    Supported Platforms:

    • OS: Windows, macOS, manylinux, or musllinux.
    • Architecture: x86 or ARM (Only 64-bit OSes on ARM are supported).

    Unsupported Platforms:

    • PowerPC, MIPS, or 32-bit ARM.

Solution: If running on an unsupported platform, you must build (compile) the LibJciHitachi dependency yourself.
