What's inside Polestar API

  1. Install the Polestar API integration manually

    To install the integration manually, you must place the component files in your Home Assistant configuration directory.

    1. Clone or copy this repository.
    2. Copy the contents of the custom_components/tibber_ev folder into <homeassistant config>/custom_components/polestar_api.

  2. Install the Polestar API integration via HACS

    To use this integration in Home Assistant, you must first have the Home Assistant Community Store (HACS) installed. Follow these steps:

    1. Search for the polestar_api integration in HACS.
    2. Download the integration within HACS.
    3. Navigate to Settings > Integrations in your Home Assistant instance.
    4. Click Add Integration and search for "Polestar API".

  3. Configure Polestar API credentials

    When adding the Polestar API integration in Home Assistant, you will be prompted to provide your Polestar account credentials:

    • Email (Polestar ID): The email address used for your Polestar account.
    • Password: The password associated with your Polestar account.

    Note: These are the same credentials used in the official Polestar mobile app. You can verify your credentials by attempting to log in at https://polestarid.eu.polestar.com/Account/login.

  4. Configure the Polestar API integration

    After installation, you must configure the integration through the Home Assistant UI. You will be prompted to provide the following credentials:

    • username: Your Polestar account username.
    • password: Your Polestar account password.
    • vin: The Vehicle Identification Number of your Polestar.
    • vcc_api_key: Your VCC API key.

  5. Important limitations and troubleshooting

    Sensor Data Availability

    Some sensors may report no information for certain Polestar models. This is a limitation of the current API availability and cannot be resolved by the integration developers.
