Overview of the Beatmap editor
masterThe beatmap editor is the in-game graphical interface used for creating beatmaps in osu!. The editor is organized into four primary functional sections accessible from the top-left corner of the interface:
- Compose: The primary workspace for creating hit objects and other gameplay-related elements.
- Design: Used for creating storyboards (visual effects). For complex effects, users may prefer using storyboard scripting directly.
- Timing: Used to manage timing sections and control hitsounds to ensure gameplay matches the song's rhythm.
- Song setup: Used to manage beatmap metadata, such as song title, artist, difficulty name, and combo colours.
For keyboard shortcuts specific to the editor, refer to the Shortcut key reference.
