What's inside Old School Bot

  1. Overview of Old School Bot

    master

Old School Bot is a Discord bot centered around Old School RuneScape (OSRS). It leverages the oldschooljs library to provide OSRS-related features such as:

    • Simulating monster kills
    • Simulating clues
    • Fetching highscores
    • Checking game worlds

Note: Old School Bot is not affiliated with or endorsed by Jagex.

  2. Overview of the Guthixian Cache minigame

    master

Guthixian Cache is a daily divination minigame. Key mechanics include:

    • Frequency: Can be played once per UTC day.
    • Rewards:
      • Diviners outfit pieces: There is a 40% chance to receive an unowned piece.
      • Cache boosts: Each completion provides a Guthixian cache boost that buffs your next session.
      • Cache portent interaction: If you possess Cache portent charges, the completion boost is converted into a tradeable/usable item instead of a buff.
      • Master Cape bonus: If wearing the Divination master cape, there is a 25% chance to receive a second cache boost upon completion.
  3. Nex Boss Overview and Requirements

    master

Nex is an endgame ranged boss that can be fought solo or in a mass.

    Requirements:

    • Prayer: 95
    • Item: Frozen Key

    Key Mechanics:

    • Ranged Attack Threshold: Aim for 205+ ranged attack. If ranged attack is under 200, a speed penalty applies.
    • Ranged Defence: High ranged defence is recommended to reduce the consumption of brews and restores.
    • Abyssal Cape: Highly recommended to reduce death probability.
  4. Overview of BSO Key Mechanics

    master

Bot School Old (BSO) is an alternative version of the Old School Bot with several mechanical deviations from OSB:

    • XP & Progression: 5x XP gain, no 200m XP cap, and quest points are capped at 5000 (awarded in increments of 1-30).
    • Loot & Clues: Clue scrolls are stackable. Clue caskets provide extra loot. There is a new Grandmaster clue tier (requires 50 Master clue scrolls).
    • Combat & Speed: 2x PvM speed. Most items are tradeable.
  5. Overview of Tames

    master

Tames are special pets that are neither stored in your bank nor equipped. They can be sent on trips to earn items, though these items do not go to your collection log. Tames are categorized by their primary function:

    • Dragon tame: Used for PvM trips (combat level based).
    • Monkey tame: Used for gathering (gatherer score based).
    • Eagle tame: Used for clue scrolls.

Note: Items earned by tames are separate from your standard collection log.

  6. Skill XP boosts from questing trips

    master

Completing questing trips provides a 50% chance to receive specific skill XP boosts based on your current levels and progress:

    • Herblore: If you have herblore:1, you may receive 250 XP.
    • Magic (Witch's Potion): If you have magic:1, you may receive 325 XP.
    • Magic (Fairytale Part 1): If you have less than magic: 1,000 XP and have completed more than 15 QP, you may receive 1,000 XP.
    • Magic (RFD miniquest): If you have cooking:40 or higher, less than magic:2,500 XP, and have completed more than 50 QP, you may receive 2,500 XP.
  7. Understand how item boosts are applied

    master

The bot applies efficiency boosts based on the items you own or equip. There are three main types of boosts:

    1. Item in Bank Boosts: These are applied automatically if the item is in your bank. They do not need to be equipped. The bot will automatically select the best available boost from your bank.
    2. Equipped Item Boosts: These require the item to be actively equipped in your current setup to be effective.
    3. Degradeable/Chargeable Item Boosts: Specific boosts applied to items that have charges or degrade (e.g., Amulet of blood fury or Venator bow).
    4. POH Boosts: Boosts applied by having specific objects built in your Player Owned House (e.g., Rejuvenation pool provides a 50% boost).
  8. Apply Hunter skill boosts

    master

Several boosts can improve your hunting efficiency (excluding birdhouses, herbiboar, and passive implings):

    • Graceful Setup: 5% boost if full graceful is equipped in your skilling setup.
    • Experience Boosts: Up to 10% creature hunting experience boost (1% per 1 hour of hunting). This increases up to 20% if using Tracking techniques.
    • Hunter Potions: Provides a +2 level boost during the trip. This allows catching higher-level creatures and potentially reaching the next 20-level threshold (20, 40, 60, 80) to use extra traps.
      • Note: Potions must be 4-dose. Use /activities decant potion_name:Hunter potion before starting your trip.
  9. How Trip Length Bonuses work from Sacrificing

    master

Sacrificing GP provides a bonus to your maximum trip length.

    Standard Scaling:

    • Every 2.5b gp sacrificed grants a 15 second bonus to maximum trip length.
    • This scales up to a 1 minute increase at 10b gp total sacrificed.

    Ironman Scaling:

    • Scaling is halved for Ironmen. They require only 5b gp to reach the 1 minute increase.

    Patron Bonuses:

    • Tier 3 patrons or above receive 3x the trip length bonus.
      • Example: A Tier 3 patron with 2.5b sacrificed receives a 45 second bonus.
      • Example: A Tier 3 patron with 10b sacrificed receives a 3 minute bonus.
  10. Understand ToB Boost Scores and Gear Penalties

    master

ToB uses a Gear Score and a Boost Score system to determine raid efficiency and death reduction.

    Gear Score Rules

    • Minimum Thresholds: You must maintain at least 80% total gear score or 75% in a specific setup to avoid huge penalties.
    • Void Penalty: Penalties apply if you do not have Elite void or Normal void in your range setup.
    • Rounding: Gear scores are always rounded up to the nearest whole number (e.g., 99.1% is treated as 100%).

    Boost Score Factors

The Boost Score is influenced by:

    • Higher attempts/KC.
    • Higher gear score.
    • Specific Items:
      • Better darts (affects boost score directly).
      • Melee: Scythe > Blade > Tentacle.
      • Range: Twisted bow.
      • Bank: Dragon warhammer > Bandos godsword; Dragon claws > Crystal halberd.
    • Void: Penalties for lacking Elite or Normal void.

    Death Reduction

Death reduction is improved by having more attempts/KC and better gear.

  11. What are Minions in Old School Bot?

    master

Minions are a core feature of Old School Bot that allow you to simulate playing a virtual Old School RuneScape account within Discord. You can send your minion to perform tasks such as:

    • Killing monsters for loot
    • Completing clue scrolls
    • Training skills

Loot obtained by minions can be used to craft items, sold, or traded to other real players. Note that Minions are entirely virtual and cannot be traded for real-world money or GP.

  12. Understand Inferno BSO Specific Boosts

    master

In the Inferno, boosts are categorized into Speed (reducing completion time) and Death Chance (reducing the probability of dying).

    Key Rules for Boosts:

    • Negative values are beneficial: A value like -7.5% reduces time or death chance. Positive values increase them.
    • Equipment Requirement: Required items and boost items must be equipped in the relevant setups to apply.
    • Death Chance Calculation: Death chance is split into Pre-Zuk Death Chance (dying before the Zuk fight) and Zuk Death Chance (dying during the Zuk fight).
    • Gear Matching: For certain sets (e.g., Armadyl/Pernix or Ancestral/Virtus), you must wear the matching top and bottom to receive the boost. Do not mix and match different sets.
