What's inside Conduit

  1. Overview of Conduit workspace management

    main

Conduit is a workspace manager designed to parallelize coding tasks using agents across local and cloud compute. It organizes development workflows into flexible tabs containing various panes, including:

    • Terminals: Local or cloud-based command lines.
    • Editors: File explorers and text editors with Git integration (stage, commit, push, pull) and Markdown preview.
    • Browsers: Integrated web panes that can be opened directly from URLs clicked in a terminal.

Users can design bespoke environments, lock tab layouts to prevent accidental changes, and save/restore entire sets of tabs as Workspaces to switch between projects easily.

  2. Install Conduit

    main

Conduit is currently available for macOS only. You can install it by downloading the latest release from the official GitHub repository.

Note: Ensure you are downloading the .dmg file for installation.

  3. Use Focus Mode and Tab Previews

    main

Conduit provides several ways to observe and focus on specific tasks:

    • Focus Mode: Use cmd+option+f to zoom in or out of a specific pane. This includes a minimap to help with navigation.
    • Tab Preview: Hover over any tab to see a live preview of its status (similar to a "peek definition").
    • Birds-eye View: Open a live overview of all active tabs to monitor multiple background tasks simultaneously.
  4. Use Design Mode to organize layouts

    main

Design Mode provides a visual editing surface to customize your workspace layout. In this mode, you can:

    • Create or remove panes.
    • Drag and drop panes.
    • Split panes into new tabs.
    • Move panes between different tabs.
    • Configure radial "quick actions" to automate the creation of specific pane layouts.
