What's inside SuperVanish

  1. Overview of SuperVanish

    master
SuperVanish is a Bukkit plugin designed for Spigot/CraftBukkit Minecraft servers. It provides server administrators with the ability to become completely invisible and undetectable to other players, facilitating administrative tasks without interference.
  2. Install SuperVanish via Maven

    master

To use SuperVanish as a dependency in your Java project, add the JitPack repository and the SuperVanish dependency to your pom.xml file. This allows you to integrate SuperVanish functionality into your own Bukkit/Spigot plugins.

  3. Vanish another player via subcommand

    master

The VanishOther subcommand allows administrators to force a specific player into a vanished (invisible) state or make them visible again. This command supports both online players and offline players (via name lookup).

    Usage Patterns

To vanish an online player: [command] <on|enable|vanish> <player_name> [options]

To make an online player visible: [command] <player_name> [options]

To vanish an offline player: [command] <on|enable|vanish> <player_name>

    Options

    • -s: Silent mode. When used, the command will not send a confirmation message to the sender (though behavior regarding whether the target is notified depends on the specific ShowOtherMessage implementation).

    Permissions and Restrictions

    • Permission Required: The sender must have the CommandAction.VANISH_OTHER permission.
    • Player Protection: If a target player has the permission sv.notoggle, they cannot be hidden by other players unless the sender has higher authority (the code checks target.hasPermission("sv.notoggle")).
    • Layered Permissions: If the setting IndicationFeatures.LayeredPermissions.HideInvisibleInCommands is enabled, players who do not have permission to see a vanished player will receive a PlayerNonExistent message instead of being told the player is already invisible.
  4. Recreate configuration and messages files

    master

Use the recreatefiles subcommand to refresh your config.yml and/or messages.yml files. This is typically used when a plugin update introduces new settings or messages that are missing from your existing configuration files.

    Usage

Confirming an update: If the plugin detects that updates are required, you must provide a confirmation argument to proceed with recreating the files.

    /supervanish recreatefiles confirm

Forcing an update: If no updates are detected by the plugin, or if you want to overwrite your current files regardless of version changes, use the force argument. This will recreate both the config and the messages files.

    /supervanish recreatefiles force

Dismissing warnings: If you are seeing update warnings but do not wish to recreate the files, you can dismiss the warning for your current version.

    /supervanish recreatefiles dismiss

    Arguments

    ArgumentDescription
confirmConfirms the recreation of files that the plugin has flagged as needing an update.
forceForces the recreation of both config.yml and messages.yml, even if no updates are detected.
dismissDismisses the update warning for the current version.

    Permissions

    Requires the RECREATE_FILES action permission.

    /supervanish recreatefiles force
  5. Use the vanish command to hide or show yourself

    master

The vanish subcommand (implemented via VanishSelf) allows players with the VANISH_SELF permission to toggle their visibility.

    Usage Patterns

    • Toggle visibility: Running the command without arguments toggles your vanished state. If you are vanished, you will reappear; if you are visible, you will vanish.
    • Reappear: Use off, reappear, or disable as an argument to force yourself to become visible. If you are not currently vanished, you will receive a NotVanishedError.
    • Silent toggle: Use the -s flag to toggle your vanished state without triggering visibility changes for other players (silent vanish/reappear).
    • Manual vanish: Providing any other single argument while visible will trigger a vanish. If you are already vanished, you will receive an AlreadyVanishedError.
    # Toggle vanish state
    /vanish

    # Force reappear
    /vanish off
    /vanish reappear
    /vanish disable

    # Silent toggle (no visibility changes for others)
    /vanish -s
  6. List all vanished players with /vanish list

    master

Use the /vanish list subcommand to retrieve a list of all players currently in vanish mode.

    • If no players are vanished, the command returns a message containing none.
    • If players are vanished, it lists their names separated by commas.
    • Players who are currently offline will have an [offline] suffix appended to their name in red text.
    • This command requires the VANISHED_LIST permission.
    /vanish list
  7. Toggle item pickup visibility with /supervanish toggleitempickups

    master

Use this subcommand to toggle whether a vanished player's item pickups are visible to others. When enabled, other players will see the items being picked up by the vanished player; when disabled, these actions are hidden.

Note: This command requires the TOGGLE_ITEM_PICKUPS permission.

    /supervanish toggleitempickups
  8. Broadcast logout messages via /sv broadcast logout

    master

The broadcast logout subcommand allows authorized users to force a broadcast of logout messages to all online players. This is useful for notifying the server when a player leaves, using the configured VanishMessage template.

Execution requires the BROADCAST_LOGOUT permission. If the sender does not have this permission, the command will not execute.

    /sv broadcast logout
  9. Reload SuperVanish configuration

    master

The reload subcommand allows administrators to reload the SuperVanish plugin configuration without restarting the entire server. This command triggers a plugin reload process and notifies the sender upon successful completion.

Note: This command requires the RELOAD permission level. If the reload fails because the plugin fails to restart itself, an error message will be sent in red text, and details will be logged to the server console.

  10. Use the /supervanish help subcommand

    master

The ShowHelp subcommand displays a list of all available SuperVanish commands and their usage. The output includes the command usage, a brief description, and the required permission for each action. Access to this help command is governed by the CommandAction.SHOW_HELP permission.

/* Note: This is a subcommand of the main SuperVanish command. Usage depends on the primary command prefix. */
  11. Use the /broadcastlogin subcommand

    master

The /broadcastlogin subcommand allows authorized users to manually trigger a broadcast message to all online players, notifying them of a player's reappearance (typically used when a vanished player reappears).

This command requires the BROADCAST_LOGIN permission. When executed, it iterates through all online players and sends them the message defined by the ReappearMessage configuration key.

    /broadcastlogin
