What's inside Gustav

  1. Initialize a sprint with the Sprint Planner

    main

To begin development, you need a Product Requirements Document (PRD) located in your project folder or a sub-folder. The planner will research technologies and select 7 features for the MVP. Any features not selected for the MVP are stored in ./tasks/deferred.json for later use.

Use the following command to start:

    /gustav:planner <PRD PATH>

    /gustav:planner path/to/your/prd.md
  2. Install Gustav into your project

    main

To use Gustav, you must clone its configuration files into a .claude directory within your target project folder. Run the following command from your terminal inside the directory where you want to start your project:

    TEMP_DIR=$(mktemp -d) && git clone git@github.com:dimitritholen/gustav.git "$TEMP_DIR" && mkdir -p ./.claude && cp -r "$TEMP_DIR/.claude"/* ./.claude/ && rm -rf "$TEMP_DIR"
  3. Add new features with the Feature Enhancer

    main

If you want to add a new feature mid-development, use the enhancer. Gustav will analyze dependencies, research required technologies, and insert new tasks into the existing sprint plan without breaking the current milestone flow.

    /gustav:enhance [feature-description]

/gustav:enhance "Add a user profile page with avatar upload"
  4. Validate milestones with the QA person

    main

Gustav operates in milestones (typically 3-4 tasks per milestone) to ensure a human-in-the-loop workflow. Gustav will refuse to continue until you run the validator for the current milestone. The validator runs tests, code quality checks, API endpoint checks, and website error checks.

    /gustav:validator [milestone-id]

    /gustav:validator
    # or
    /gustav:validator milestone-1
  5. Analyze sprint velocity with the Project Manager

    main

To review performance and view a burndown chart, use the velocity command. By default, it analyzes the current sprint, but you can specify a sprint-id to review historical performance.

    /gustav:velocity [sprint-id]

    /gustav:velocity
    # or
    /gustav:velocity sprint-01
  6. Execute development tasks with the Programmer

    main

Once the planner has generated the necessary files, use the executor to build the application. You can let Gustav pick the next task automatically or specify a specific task-id to work on a particular item.

    /gustav:executor [task-id]

    /gustav:executor
    # or
    /gustav:executor task-123
  7. Run security audits with That Security Dude

    main

Run security scans to check your application against frameworks like OWASP Top 10, CWE/SANS Top 25, PCI DSS, GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001/27002. You can scope the audit to specific areas.

    /gustav:audit [scope: full|dependencies|code|config]

    /gustav:audit full
    /gustav:audit dependencies
    /gustav:audit code
    /gustav:audit config
