What's inside AirMessage Server
- AirMessage Server is designed to run on OS X 10.10 and targets Xcode 13 by default. If you need to compile using Xcode 14 or newer, you must manually change the deployment target to macOS 10.13 in the project settings.
Generate OpenSSL binary for AirMessage Server
mainAirMessage Server requires a universal OpenSSL binary to link against. To generate this binary, run the
Configure.commandscript located in theOpenSSLdirectory.cd OpenSSL && ./Configure.commandConfigure AirMessage Server secrets
mainAirMessage Server requires configuration files to associate with services like Firebase and Sentry. The project will not build without valid configuration files. To get started quickly, you can use the provided default configuration by copying it to the required location, or you can provide your own Firebase configuration file.
To use the default configuration, copy
AirMessage/Secrets.default.xcconfigtoAirMessage/Secrets.xcconfig.cp AirMessage/Secrets.default.xcconfig AirMessage/Secrets.xcconfigBuild and run AirMessage Server for AirMessage Connect
mainTo facilitate development, you can build AirMessage Server to connect to the open-source version of AirMessage Connect hosted at
connect-open.airmessage.org. This version is pre-configured to authenticate with that specific server.Note: When using this setup, you must ensure your client apps (Android or Web) are also connected to the same
connect-open.airmessage.orgserver. Do not use official AirMessage Connect servers with unofficial builds of AirMessage-compatible software.
